Lacking both experience and size, attacking the stranger directly was not something within Lilia's wheelhouse. To intervene between the shepherding fangs of Augur and Prophet would have likely impeded their own plans and attacks. Amidst the fray surged their crimson leader, a bloody arrow aiming for its target.

Lilia, like the others, jousted from the fringe. Where Prophet lunged, Lilia did as well, mirroring his steps while keeping out of reach enough so that she would not trip him up. She added her voice to the chorus of jeers, becoming more and more frenzied by the sight of many wolves against one. She shadowed Prophet, but would not step beyond his reach- entering that dance would tip the balance, and Lilia was smart enough to keep herself from becoming a hazard.

she sprints to her full speed.

the earth blurs around her. life blurs around her.

her pulse and lungs and functions cease;

she rips along the woman's ribs with teeth, finding flesh and blood as she tears away, the crimson spray nearly blinding her

Avicus runs and runs with her;

the woman has the advantage.

she pulls to a halt and, blood-spattered, tends to her packmates.

NO!

she runs to her fallen comrade, hurrying to inspect his fallen form.
but see, amid the mimic rout,
a crawling shape intrude —
a blood-red thing that writhes from out
the scenic solitude

She grows wild at the sight of her man in action. But with their cub, New Snow does not step out of line except when her spirit demands it of her. To show her son the importance of solidarity, but to also make him aware that responsibility to one another came first. Her greatest responsibility in this moment was to look after the youngest, each who seemed to join in the ways that she could.

New Snow felt proud of them, and cajoled her mate, Red Woman, and Blood Eyes with the young Lilia. When any of the young overstepped, she would warn them of it with a noise and only bar them from action should it intervene with the three that led them. It seemed the instigator and their headstart would be the sole reason they lived, but New Snow and her leaders had both smelled and tasted her blood.

If the scent of it came near again, New Snow would know to act. New Snow watched as Red Woman peeled away; with a huff, New Snow whuffed to each of the young. She trusted the guardians (her mate and Blood Eyes) to ensure the stranger was far from them, but the cubs could not go all the way with them.

And then she headed toward Red Woman, to see how they might help.

Skippable if I ttake too long; NS can be PP'd babysitting and helping Avicus!

Sovereign exits here! Thank yall for the thread <333

They lashed and bit and drew blood, but the Crown Prince fought hard against all their blows, kicking and clawing and biting, thrashing and trying to regain her footing through it all until finally-
She did!

And despite the screaming protests of her body, she ran.
And she ran like a bat out of the gates of Helheim.

She did not look back nor did she falter again once until she was well into the mountains, far and away from this place.

She was not the only one keeping a close eye on the pack’s younger members. Masque noticed New Snow watching them too and felt heartened. She allowed herself to divert her attention to the fray. She watched the wolves of the rise surge over the white she-wolf like they would prey, hunters to the very marrows of their bones.

But their quarry had teeth, claws and wits unlike wild game. Masquerade could only watch in utter disbelief when the murderer somehow managed to flee the violent scrum. The Toweard twitched in that direction, though halted when her superiors gave pursuit. Her mouth gaped as she watched them disappear into the distance, bewildered by this turn of events.

Bafflement soon turned to a sense of frustration at this unbelievable injustice. Masque stamped her feet in the dirt, nostrils flared. For lack of anything better to do, she glided back toward Bobcat, touching her nose to his shoulder. She exchanged a glance with his mother, ready to escort the pups back to the rise.

She wondered what they would do with the body when they got there.

Last post from me. :)
