New Snow knew now in the ways that a woman might (after their first experience in particular) know that the seeds of the future had been successfully planted. And at this point in time, the physical evidence of it was becoming apparent. Her hunger had increased, and again she hankered for particular things.

Only today did she seem to recognize this for what it was when she grew frustrated after her failure to find something akin to water fowl nearby. And rather than sit in upset, she instead rerouted and ran after the trail of her man with a swaying tail and an upbeat step.

red woman was close. new snow too would join her as a mother once more.

augur did not think of the future, when his alpha female's daughters would come of age and he would defend the rise from their daring suitors.

new snow; she followed; augur turned with a rumble, a thoughtful lick to her cheek before he pressed his side against her own.

was she hungry?

Mountain Boulder! New Snow saw him and thrilled, bridging the gap between them in several bounds. She nipped happily at his face, his shoulder, and as he settled alongside her New Snow found that her feet had wings and she was so elated she could not settle! 

She ran around him in loose circles, zig-zagging, and barking merrily. She stopped short and watched him, eyes bright. She was hungry, but she was also in the mood to play! 

Her forelegs slid against the earth as she rest in a play bow, barking loudly twice in invitation.

new snow always brought play to his life.

he barked back!

he whined!

he scuffed the ground and then ran happily for her, gentle with their connection as he sought to nip first one ear and then another.

He, as ever, entertained her mood and fell into it himself. New Snow was elated. She felt such joy! He had brought it to her life, too. There had always been happiness, but nothing quite like this.

New Snow echoed his sounds, and playfully combatted his movements. New Snow grew stiller once the notched ear found its way into his mouth, but she crooned a happy note as she batted at one of his forelegs in a gentle, soft sweeping sort of movement. The goal was to cause him to trip, though not to fall. But if he should trip, New Snow would roll with him to continue their tussle.

Life was always grand with him so close. New Snow mouthed whatever was within reach, relentless.

augur snatched it back; he did not stumble but he did slow, sidestep.

a bark rolled loudly from him! he leapt, dazzled, toward new snow. she brought sunflower gold into his life.

and soon her strength would bring them new children.

augur was proud. he barked again, plume flagging; he meant to sling a foreleg carefully around her lithe shoulders.
