All Welcome
colt briggs quickly found he weren't cut out for no island pack, but he settled well enough.
he did not seek a den yet, however, as this was a foreign concept. he was quickly waterlogged and often stank of mud, but it did not stop his hunting.
today colt was frog searching a third time.

Ady had heard they had new faces and despite her current condition she wouldn't let them go long without them meeting her. After all she was half of the leadership. And besides it was just mannerly to meet those at your doors. So with rounded belly and a rollicking gait, she followed the scent of the newcomers. They seemed quite rough. It was a little shocking honestly.

She had to take frequent breaks, but finally she made it and she sat down quickly while the wolf hunted for something. A gentle chuff letting him know she was there, but she would allow him to continue his hunt for the time being. It was not her place to tell him no, and besides if she was being honest she needed to catch her breath before she spoke.

well damn, she was fit to pop!
"ma'am," colt grunted, pulling his gaze away from her fat pale sides. "won't yew stay sittin', ma'am." colt left his hunt and returned, not so close.
"name's briggs. kin i fetch yew anythin'?"

A soft gentle smile colored the pale fur of her face. Serene and sweet and naive, much like the girl herself in some ways.

Thank you. I'm Adylaide, Ulrich's wife. I don't need anything right now. I wanted to meet you and your friend before I was unable to be among the others after the children need me.

Her tail wagged gently as she looked behind him. What were you hunting just now?

pregnancy confounded, beleagured, and worried colt. her sweet little smile told him maybe she was in the same boat on that confused bit.
"well, howdy do, miz adylaide." ulrich's wife! no wonder the man had seemed on edge, with pending kids and a beauty to boot.
"frogs, ma'am. found them to be a regu'lar sort of meat while travelin'. kin find em most anywhere."

A little furrow in her brow, while brown eyes studied him. Are they good? Do you have to eat a lot to fill your belly?

She had seen frogs before and they weren't large creatures, and they seemed so vile. But perhaps it was just something she was missing. She tried to believe she was open minded when it came to eating adventurous foods, but frogs she just wasn't sure, but maybe they were an absolute delicacy like the bull snakes that Iseul had been bringing. She had worried, but they had tasted very good. Almost like bird.

"not too good, i reckon, ma'am," colt went on, finding that he was stumbling with his interactions. he had never had one so prolonged with someone he didn't know.
and this one meant a lot more for him, for his standing. "they'll fill yew up though." a thought. "if'n yew allow me back to it, i'll catch one fer yew, ma'am."

Ady smiled. Of course. I didn't mean to keep you from what you were doing. And I'd love to try one if it isn't too much trouble for you. I'd hate to be a bother.

A small little wag of her tail. Ady was a sweet natured thing most of the time. And she didn't like to cause any issues and she preferred kindness to harshness. That wasn't to say that if she needed se couldn't be firm in her stances and her words. But she and Ully both wanted something different with the isle.

"naren't a bother atall, ma'am." colt was relieved for the opportunity to turn away, to turn back to his goals. he hunched at the side of the water like a gargoyle, squinting into its depths.
then his shoulders tightened; his body tensed. colt splashed out into the frigid shallows and came up with something large and wriggling strong limbs.
he bit hard to wound it; he set it in front of the good miz adylaide, still weakly moving.
the genteel part, he was still working on it.

Instinctually, she slammed a paw down on the creature and finished it off. Then she studied it. it was quite ugly, but perhaps it wasn't terrible to taste. So without a thought, she bent to the task of ripping apart one of the creature's legs. It was full of muscle and sinew, but also quite tasty she had to admit. She motioned for the male to have some too.

Would you like to join in the meal with me. Thank you for catching me one.

A little smile lit up her brown eyes and a tongue darted out to lick at teh blood that lay on her coat. She wagged her tail and gave a soft sound when the children rolled in her stomach. She quickly looked down and watched as they pressed and pushed.

"nah, that's all right, miz adylaide," colt mumbled, protracting her name and drawing it into 'adeelayde.' "yew jes' — go on an' eat up. yer eatin' fer more than one."
it didn't feel right to talk about anything unmentionable.
"how long yer pack been around these parts?" he asked instead, always hungry for information and especially that gleaned far more easily than usual.

She gave a small tittering laugh. You can call me, Ady if it's easier. She tucked into her meal, an ear towards him while he spoke. A lick of her lips and she frowned in thought.

Not long. Ulrich and I came here with just each other and we found alittle place to settle and soon other's followed. Maybe end of the winter months. Have you been around here long?

colt shook his head. "prefer t'use yer full title, if that's all right, miz adylaide." better this time. my she was a fine woman, pure as driven snow, and sweet as honeycream. ulrich had done right. she was a shimmering gem and colt knew he would stain her if he so much as breathed wrong her way.
"sadey'n i, we been traveling t'gether for a long while. reckoned it was high time we hunkered down fer a — well, a longer spell than we've been used to."

She nodded. That's just fine if your more comfortable with it. I just thought i'd offer. Mr. Briggs. if he wanted to keep her at arm's length, she could do the same. It was only polite to return his energy and if he was comfortable with more formality so be it.

Ears ticked forward. Are you Sadey's guard? or her husband?

"neither. jes' friends, miz adylaide." colt was careful with his tone but perish the thought!
"sadey would jes' as soon box m'ears as have me fer a husband,"' he chuckled next, offering her a thoughtful and brief look.

Ady smiled. That's just fine too. Ully was my friend before we even thought about becoming more and I think that friends are just important sometimes more important than lovers depending on the lover.

She gave a soft little hum of delight. Eyes softened in happiness. She would box your ears? Goodness. She sounds like she is quite the character. Though sometimes i suppose other's deserve it. She giggled a little.

colt smirked a bit. "yeah, that's sadey fer yew all right. a scrapper. one of th'strongest wolves i know."
and what would she think of him, jawing away about her now?
"well, don't let me keep yew, miz adylaide. reckon i uh, reckon i could escort yew back, if yew were so inclined." what was the protocol for leaving pretty women lounging alone and pregnant beside froggy waters?

He seemed to think well of his companion. That was good. Though she wondered at their friendship only because she was curious and she loved happy romantic endings so. But these two didn't seem to have very much romance in their systems.

She shook her head. Oh no. I'm quite alright. I'm going to take a small break and then i'll head back to the den. Thank you for the Frog, Mr. Briggs.

thanks for the thread as usual <3 feel free to reply again or fade!

he dipped his head. "have a fine day, ma'am."
feeling dismissed and glad of it, colt trudged away, slipping into a trot as he reached the treeline.
he was settling. well. settling enough. the wild eternally called.
