Conception
the prophet came alive;

magick in her veins. dark fire in her bones. almalexia drew away from her islands and cut a sharp path inland. for this she would need another. a mortal, a man, weak things that they were.

her lip curled with thoughts of ingram. keeper. iron guardian. betrayer, as merrick had been. always for a woman.

almalexia was no mere woman.

she was divinity itself.

muzzle lifting, she howled into the sky. let them come to her and be tested. let them see divinity and know that they would never touch it.

tag for ref. this is probably a bad idea. :)

Cathal "Crow" Blackthorn had yet to settle down. His brief stint with Sequoia had burned bright and hot, and that was the last time he had even attempted such a thing. In the time since, he had gone from one fling to the next, breaking hearts along the way, though he never stuck around long enough to confirm that little bit. He merely assumed he had broken hearts along the way.

There had been an ever-so-brief interlude with his brother, @Penn, in which they'd met, skirmished, hugged it out, and gone their separate ways without a single word between them. Aside from that, Crow had kept away from anybody he knew. Some might say he was trying to protect his feelings, but that assumed that he had feelings at all. He didn't feel remorse for those he had left behind; that much he knew.

And so, when a call went up and Crow drew near to that oh-so-sweet smell, he didn't hesitate to move in close, testing her by bringing himself close. She was a void, and Crow was more than ready to get lost in that.

the one who answered her call belonged to both light and shadow. almalexia regarded him in cool silence as he approached. closer and closer she let him, until she felt the warmth of him radiating through the cold air.

the voidsent creature stiffened, lips peeled back in a silent snarl. challenge, invitation, test. let him prove his worth to her. let him bleed in the name of divinity.

and if he would not,

the prophet would know him as unworthy of her. worthy only of death.

Instead of being receptive, she snarled at him. Crow rolled his eyes. He knew there were dozens of ladies out there with more sense than this one, and he had no time for such games. There were hearts to break!

Cooly as he had come up to her, Crow turned and headed away.

she snarled once more, and pursued a short distance. the spirits whispered to her; he was not worthy of her time. she would not find what she sought here.

almalexia turned away. by the next morning she would be gone from this place. further inland. searching. waiting, though she knew not what she waited for.
