While the morning is early, and the sun has barely begun to rise over the canyon, Sabah summons @Sovereign to her.

We train, winak. Though the holcan knew her as snow bear, she figured it now a respectful gesture to address them as their new title—regardless of what it may be.

Sabah stood, waiting. It was time to continue where they once left off.

Sovereign came swiftly to Sabah's call.
Training, resumed.
The yearling nodded firmly with acceptance and took a few steps away, flowing into a prepared stance as she allowed the Holcan the first move between them.

feel free to make a dice roll thread and tag me, if you want! <3

ah, but we are not sparring today, hehe. changing it up a bit.

Snow bear came quick, prepared to fight. But this was not Sabah's plan for today.

Shaking her head to signify the winak's mistake, she beckoned her close.

Defensive exercise. Today's lesson. When holcan travel, must be attentive. During any outing, it was of the utmost importance to be observant towards any possible dangers surrounding.

Pretend snow bear with ajaw. Sabah be enemy. Snow bear watch for enemy.and if you find that enemy, keep ajaw safe. The ultimate takeaway.

The girl was visibly confused when Sabah beckoned her to come closer with a shake of her head.
Still, she came, listened to the words upon the Holcan's lips.
Hesitantly at first, Sovereign nodded in acknowledgement and took a more defensive posture, trying to visualize Ajaw at her side and as if Sovereign was putting herself between her Lord and the enemy.
Then a different thought clicked in her attentive young mind:
"Will I be going through the territory like this, watching for you?" She asked, voice implying she would definitely feel stupid if the Holcan's answer was affirmative.

She could tell the yearling was confused. But soon, the realization came about.

Yes, Sabah confirmed the query, finding no harm in it being asked. It was better to be sure, rather assume.

And with their tasks set, the holcan darted elsewhere, soon after vanishing from view and leaving the winak alone.

Sovereign's eyes glinted with acceptance as Sabah affirmed her question.
A moment later, the Holcan darted away, melting into the rocks and leaving Sovereign, seemingly, alone.

Keeping the image of Ajaw fresh, imagining Him present and at her side, the yearling prowled deeper into the canyon, ears on a constant swivel, perked and eyes carefully scanning the reaches of the stony labyrinth as well as the twists and turns throughout.
Her stride was measured and careful as she continued along.

She also threw some quick glances over her shoulders to assure that there was nothing coming up behind her and the imaginary form of her Lord at her side.

Sabah had whisked away, but her pace slowed as soon as she was within the tree line.

Small, tiptoed steps. The goal was to not be heard, so that Sovereign was forced to heighten her senses.

From afar, the holcan watched close to how the yearling moved, observed, and reacted.

Now and again, she would purposely snap a twig, then to move to another position so she wasn't given away.

The girl listened and watched closely to her surroundings, ears and eyes remaining on constant alert.
Each time a twig snapped, a rock fell, or anything else, Sovereign noted it by the quick snap of her attention to that area on the spot.
She continued onward however, making sure her body was put between the imaginary form of Ajaw and the direction of every sound that came.

Fuck, this was harder than she anticipated, but practice and preparation was never a bad thing, especially when it came to the art of being Holcan!
Though she was not a Sister-in-arms yet, and she knew that, of course.

The yearling amidst her caution added her nose to the mix of senses she used now, sniffing in each direction a sound came from to see what she could pick up from the added efforts.
Even so, she always had one ear angled toward Imaginary Ajaw when 'he' wasn't within her vision.

I don't intend for this to turn into a full spar, but rather a test to see just how attentive Sovereign had been.

A dice roll (performed by Liv) will decide whether she failed or passed. The result, either which way, will conclude the lesson.

If a 1 is rolled, then Sovereign would have failed to see Sabah coming, and she will sustain minot injuries. If a 2 is rolled, then Sovereign would have had time to dodge, thus still capable to "protect her charge".

If you any questions at all, don't hesitate to reach out via PM, or on discord!

Having tread through the topiary far long enough, Sabah knew it was time for true training. What it would really be like fighting against an assailant with another to portect.

Lumbering toward the tree's edge, a hissing sound escaped between her clenched teeth. And once she had reached it, she broke into a run, lunging into view.

Hard, each leg pushed her forward until she reached the white form who happened to be facing the wrong direction.

Limbs stretched, and teeth wide, the holcan lunged, holding nothing back. It would be the quickness or slowness of the yearlings reaction that would decide just how badly the attack affected her, as well as how much so she'd failed to perform her duties.

Sov rolled a 2! Proof: Link

The yearling continued on for as long as Sabah intended, taking in every sound she possibly could.
It was when she turned completely around having thought she heard Sabah coming from behind, that she heard the rapidly approaching footfalls from her flank-!

Sovereign whirled just enough to see Sabah;s teeth coming full-force before she messily re-routed mid-action to rip herself out of the way of the Holcan, stumbling sideways a few decent steps as she attempted to regain herself while still also keeping her own body between Sabah and the imaginary form of Ajaw

The pale behemoth was tense and readied now, a warning growl and baring of teeth upon her face as if she was facing a real enemy.
She would stay this way until Sabah either made another move or declared the lesson over, pass or fail.

By the Gods, Sovereign was pleading inwardly that she did well!

Just in the nick of time, it seemed, Sovereign heard the approach and was able to move both herself and her "charge" away from harm.

Sabah landed slightly awkward, but recovered herself without time for much notice by her pupil.

Snow bear do good. Snow bear pass She spoke with a hint of a gasp, turning to face them.

Sabah proud of snow bear. Indeed she was! For this was no simple task. By having done so well, it only goes to show just how much more prepared she will be for the real thing.

The yearling didn't notice Sabah's awkward landing, keeping her stance until Sabah declared her success with this practice.
It was then that Sovereign loosened enough to take a more neutral stance, waving her tail a few times as the Holcan voiced her pride in Sovereign.
The girl smiled at this, the child inside of her giddy from praise.
Sovereign gently tucked her child-self back under the covers of a scarred and beaten heart, hoping Sabah did not see it.

"I think I could have done better..." She offered, humble.
As much as Sovereign visibly appreciated her efforts being seen, she wanted to be as skilled as her mother had been.
Better, even!

This goal of hers had never faded, even after all she had been through so far.
