set for june 10th.
the small cub is not quite so small anymore! kogi has grown, and so has his appetite. today, his mother brings him a new source of food, regurgitated meat. instinct urges him to lick at her mouth, and this in turn starts the ritual feeding. the pre-chewed food is new and different, but kogi makes no fuss over it. he gobbles up the food alongside his siblings, only stopping when his belly is full.
he has gained quite a bit of mobility over the past two and a half weeks. he now makes treks across the den several times a day, although he still has not set foot outside his home. his world will remain small for another several days, but already he is becoming curious about the world beyond. his baby blue eyes drift to the source of light often.

Working through first-time motherhood is a challenge Waawaashkeshi could never have been prepared for. Some things came through instinct, some trial and error. When her babies cried she held them, when they began to resist milk she brought them mice, when they would not eat the mice she regurgitated for them - they liked that far better.
Taking her time to relax between hunting to eat for her children, preparing for Summerwalking, and assisting others, Waawaashkeshi was struggling to keep her eyes for the moment. Spotting Tibishkogijik she watched him waddling about for the moment, little blue eyes looking to the bright light of the sun outside of their den.

Kogi, you like the sun?She smiles, her tail thumping. How old did puppies need to be to go outside, anyways?

kogi's mother communicates with him, though he is still to young to truly comprehend. he does not yet know the word for "sun" though he perks up at the sound of his own nickname. this, he knows!
he bounds toward his mother, though it is more of a slow toddle than a gallop. he notes her tail, his eyes watching it before he goes for the kill. he pounces on the tail, missing by a wide margin. nevertheless, it is good practice for his growing brain and body to learn to coordinate himself.

Her son seems to recognise his own name, and Waawaashkeshi cannot think he is so very smart! Snickering when he pounces, she pushes her nose under her boy's soft belly to lean him onto his back.
You're looking lively today, ah?She can't help but love it - Waawaashkeshi has been waiting since her little ones were born for them to grow old enough that they could run and play. He's slow now, but she feels sure that it won't be long before Kogi is running. Blowing a raspberry onto his tummy, she lifts her head with a thumping tail.
I think you'll love the Summer's journey. She decides, already imagining him, Biskane, and Nagamo hopping through tall grasses and meeting the children of other packs for the first time. She hopes they'll be able to make a friend or two along the way.
Maybe you'll catch some frogs on the way, would you like that Kogi?
