eye opening thread!
finín was stirred from tranquil slumbering by the demanding caterwauling of his food deprived stomach, which he quickly took lessons from and recreated with an ever strengthening screech as he performed the ardurous journey from fur to teat to sate this all encompassing desire. it was only during this fervent suckle that he became suddenly aware of the way in which this new darkness before him shifted with enthralling texture as he blinked.
however, considering the thick gloom of the den and the fact that he was face to face with the sable furs of his mama, finín grew quite tired of this new feat in a manner of seconds. he did, however, quite enjoy this new feeling of stirring his eyelids and so as he drank, sky kissed eyes shuttered with a continuous blink blink blink.
and that's about as exciting as it gets as he looses a satisfied belch. big case of no thoughts head empty here.

Weird noises, weird smells. What was all this? The den was one he had not seen before, but the smells within reminded him of the other puppies, the grey ones. Were there more puppies here? And were these ones any smarter? Who would they belong to?
Curiosity overwhelmed him, and he peeked ruby gaze within, spotting not one, not two, but four ugly little things. One of them let out a loud burp and Caerus cringed, eyes squinting at the thing which was turned away, suckling at its sleeping mother. He vaguely remembered her from once upon a time.
Zero boundaries, he stumbled inside excitedly, keeping his distance but sniffing wildly like a rabbit.

Who are youuu? He hummed, staring most especially at the one that had made noise. The others were interesting too, though. Spotted, like him. Like dad, even.

Ciaran had ended up at a weird angle somehow or other. Wiggle around enough and it'll happen sometimes, and right now that was ok -- he was stuffed and happy, just hadn't dozed off yet. The light from the den had flooded half of his field of vision, and though it was kind of uncomfortable with it, the natural shifts of the light were subtle enough that he hadn't minded it. Or such had been the case until a dark blot had quickly come into view and blocked it out. Such a sudden appearance! He yanked his wobbly head back, yipping and yowling and attempting to crawl away from the new changed thing he couldn't quite focus on, to hide near his mother all of an inch or so away.

he'd grown quite used to the pattern that blinking entailed after these few moments of serene suckling. blink - the impenetrable caress of the darkness that he was so used to, blink - the strange shifting shadows that was unknowingly the weak light tickling at his mama's stomach. it was oddly comforting, this customary procedure and it was exactly why he grew so affronted when the routine was quite abruptly shattered. for the next time azure gems become visible to the world, expecting the shifting gloom to greet him once more, he was faced with the cloak of stygian black he expected only when eyes fluttered shut. and hence began a frenzied display of rapid blinking as he detached from his feeding with a bewildered wail, writhing backwards and thumping against the equally discombobulated ciarán.
and already victim to such distress, you can only imagine the horror to encompass him when he came face to face with this looming beast breathing down on him, it would be enough to make one swoon. however- affrighted screams would quite suddenly snap off as he lapsed into curious silence, rounded sapphires fixed upon the stark gleam of zealous rubies looking upon him. having only tasted the the muted murk of darkness until this very moment, the contrast of lustrous crimson draws him forth like a moth to a flame as his pudgy little figure started a determined wriggle towards splotchy caerus.

One who yipped in a way that was painful on the ears- and Caerus laughed,
you can't sing at all!Because of course the kid was a master of that sort of thing. The little thing with the bad voice was crawling away, further into his sleeping mother, thankfully... but the other came wriggling forward, which the boy did not mind, considering he had not harmed his ears just yet.
hi, baby!Caerus crowed, grinning ear to ear down at the creature.
can you talk yet, dummy? He questioned, all the while gazing right back into baby-blues with the same sort of wonder.

Doing some PP of @Aibreann that we briefly discussed like ages ago -- if it needs to be adjusted LMK, but I hope it's ok! jhdfiushdifu
It was nothing but his best shrieking, you see. All he wanted was his mom to rescue him from whatever this new thing was -- or dad, but Mal wasn't here. And then bopped by a brother to top it off!
But the alarms from the boy had woken Aibreann, who had likely already been only shallowly sleeping from Caerus' earlier words. She, however, was not Miriam. And unlike Miriam who had seemed to welcome Caerus in, as she shifted and raised her head in the darkness, she growled. It was not playful, and it was directed pointedly at Caerus. Mal had told her previously that Caerus should know better at this point than to invade a den uninvited, that it had been explained before. With a paw, she scooped Finín back towards her side and away from the reckless boy.

finín glared very hard at this beast with the whimsical rubies between the shuttering of rapid blinking, still quite enjoying the odd sensation of ordering about the muscles that controlled his eye's personal veils. gummy jaws shift open and shut, determined gurgles loosing a declared "blup" as he inches closer despite the protesting mutterings of all too easily tired out muscles. but then- as he slug rolls closer to the paint splattered intruder, blurry look catches ahold of the streaming light framing his figure and dappling their den, now that was where he wanted to go. but before he could so much as begin to attempt clambering over the lump of caerus' paw sitting smug in his way, a startled cry jolted from his squirming self as he was pulled back into the familiar darkness.
disconcerted and frustrated, finín thrashed at his momma's side, refusing to be lured by the familiarity of comforting scents as he wailed his discontent at such treatment.

The baby cried, the mother growled at him- and the stubborn Caerus huffed, annoyed.
aw, c'mon, we're just playin'!Caerus defended, taking a hesitant step back, though not exiting the den by any means.
don't you want me to teach 'em to sing?In truth Cae would not give in easily; he did not understand the harm in his presence there, and would not leave by something so simple as a growl- after all, he had never encountered any real enemy in his life.

I'm not 100% confident on my PPing here but all things considered.. I tried. Gimme a star. XD Let's just wrap this one up soon? NEW THREADS.
Aibreann had made her decision, so Finin wasn't going to be allowed to go wandering this time, regardless of his complaints. This was not the time for him to interact with the older boy. Her frown deepened.
Get out and don't come back in unless invited to do so.Her weight shifted, she started to stand, a threat to remove him from the den if it came to that. She didn't answer his question, because Caerus had overstepped and overstayed his welcome. Best be off.
Unlike his brother, Ciaran was more distressed by his mother threatening to move away from him than anything.
