He saw from a great distance away that there were strange spires of stone before him. This piqued his interest, but what drew him away from his urge to charge ahead were the scents of wolf upon the wind. They were not strong - not yet - and to Tryphon this meant he had more time to track the herd. The last thing the young man wanted was to be confronted by a pack of hungry wolves. When his course intersected with a grove of saplings layered in a strong array of scents, he stopped and reversed — but there were signs upon those saplings that the elk had been nearby, nibbling at the fresh shoots. It pained him to pull away, but Tryphon had learned from his past mistakes.
He followed the fringe of the territory as best he could. Wherever he found a marking, he treated it as a firm warning and did not cross it. Yet the longer he lingered upon the borders the more he felt... disconnected. Not only from the herd he had been tracking (and the hunger that grew in his gut with each day), but a strong disconnect from all that a wolf was. Perhaps it was this deeply rooted sense of need inside of him, or a desire to be social for once in his life — but the man cast back his head and sang to the spring winds, alerting anyone nearby that he was present. That he existed.
But still, he pulled away from the warning signs among the reeds and roots, giving them such a wide berth that anyone searching for the origin of the call would be met with empty space - lest they distance themselves from the edge of the claim, where both Tryphon and any interested party would be on equal footing; two lone wolves in the middle of nowhere, rather than a rogue lingering on unfriendly borders. Of course he was jumping to conclusions... Who was to say that Tryphon would be assailed in the same manner as his long-ago trespass? At least he was thoughtful enough to find a neutral meeting place.

the song carried through the winds, whisking away as notes were heard by gentle ears. as it faded, krypton aroused herself and exited her den, making sure that she kept aurora hid away from the entrance and tucked into the corner to avoid being seen. with the thought of knowing she would be safe for the short time she would be out, krypton hurried away with a quick and long stride towards the border. she wondered for a bit if steady was going to be there with valette, but seeing she was the only one to arrive, krypton hummed a bit before looking out.
she could see no wolf in her view, at least, nor right in front of her. but the scent of another lingered in the air, considering it was fresh too. instead of hightailing it back, krypton walked a bit out of the border before staggering a bit farther. there, her green and yellow eyes locked onto something- a wolf. the female lifted her gaze and posture as she strode forward just a few more steps before calling out to the stranger. "why have you called, loner?" she asked in her hoarse voice, waiting quietly for an answer. she considered the timing to be nice since the two of them weren't standing under piles of snow.

Before long there was an approach, and he watched the stranger from a safe distance until their eyes met. At this point he lowered his head as a sign of respect, wagged his tail-tip invitingly, and slunk closer - but not too close. Any subordinate displays were obsolete, just as the stranger's own more dominant posture was obsolete, for the two of them were on neutral territory. Tryphon performed as humbly as he could so that the other would be at ease, and when she asked him to explain himself, he licked his lips and began to speak.

I.. I was hoping for an invitation, his own voice was a bit hoarse but nothing like it had been months ago, after spending so long on his own without using it. Tryphon tried to enunciate past the disuse and hoped he did not come across as pushy, although it had been some time since he'd seen another wolf let alone tried to integrate in to a pack. This process, for him, was usually comprised of less speaking and more action; he wanted to investigate the stranger as he had investigated Saghani, but held back.
D-do you have room? I can pull my own weight, and.. And protect your family, do whatever is asked of me.

krypton listened quietly to the man as he spoke. just as she had expected, the lone male was in search of a home just like all the others who were near the borders of the hollow. it had been strange for krypton lately, activity around the hollow had been dwindling, perhaps because their numbers were fluctuating from growing to dropping- the whole process was still a blur to krypton's glassy eyes. however, she couldn't complain too much, a few members had stuck around for the hollow and have proved their loyalty to the pack. hoepfully the male in front of her would not dissapoint her as the others who left did.
the beastly woman nodded her head in acknowledgement to his wishes and voice before parting her dark lips. "an invitation is not simply given, but earned," she chided him before looking over his body with a pleased expression. "however, we do have room for newcomers." speaking of pulling their own weight was a trait krypton was thankful for. slackers were no longer tolerated in her book, she was tired of them and after how many wolves enter and leave the hollow, krypton can hardly keep track of who is in and who is out. besides, it's not like all of the wolves in the hollow pulled their weight before they left, krypton felt like there were some who still staggered around as if they were drunk with happiness.
the word "protection" caught krypton's attention. the male looked quite capable of protecting the pack, not to mention there were 2 other mercenary wolves in the hollow, steady and krypton herself. "protection is always welcome, you'd be working with our alpha and myself if you were to be a mercenary," she took a calm breath while spring breezes blew through her pelt gently. she decided to try and connect eyes with him just for a split second before returning her gaze towards his body, not face. "may i ask what you specilize in, skill-wise?"
