spar thread for @Rosencrantz
She hadn't explored much of the coast yet, which she planned to remedy soon. She knew the valley around her pack's lands fairly well, and she was curious about what adventures she might find near the ocean.
She found herself on a plateau that overlooked the ocean today, and she was in awe of the view. She stood on the edge, the warm, salty breeze moving through her snowy fur. Her legs were hidden by the tall grass that tickled her stomach with every surge of the wind. It was a warm day—too warm for her honestly, but she was able to ignore the discomfort as she glanced at the bright blue ocean that seemed to touch the sky and go on forever.
Occasionally, her gaze would lift to the sky directly above her when the sound of the sea birds got particularly loud, but then she would refocus it on the land and sea below her. She had no plans for leaving any time soon.

The sea, it wasn't his favourite thing but as time went on he was starting to move on the pain it reminded him of and he would make new memories with the loved ones he had now. The salty smell of the air would never feel like his true home, just as the other Rusalkans would never see the forest or glaciers as theirs - but perhaps he was more flexible on where he lived than they were.
Paying little mind to the push and pull of its current, he focused on trying to find a trace of some prey to bring back to the moors and fill some caches. He wouldn't be distracted by the ocean, but what did catch his eye was a young pale woman. She almost looked like Tundra, well, just another white wolf really but maybe it was because his now-wife almost always plagued his mind in the most beautiful of fever dreams that he didn't mind.
For a moment his gaze lingered on the woman, curious as to what she was doing here. Both she and he were of different packs, thankfully he was certain these were neutral lands as they didn't smell like either of them. At least she wasn't one of those annoying island wolves who never seemed to leave Rusalka alone...

His scent drifted by on the breeze and she knew she wasn't alone anymore. She turned to see the stranger. He was large and pale like she was; to the outside they might even look related, but she knew they weren't.
She raised any eyebrow at him, the breeze billowing through her coat once again and carrying a few strands of her hair with it.

Where you just going to stare?she asked. Most would have said something upon finding her, but he just stood there. It was strange and made her a bit uneasy, but she was careful to hide that feeling. She only offered him snarky suspicion as she waited for whatever answer he had. She angled her body more towards him in the meantime so that her back wasn't towards him. No need to give him an advantage if his intentions were not good.

He was spotted, and yet, it didn't cause him any discomfort. It wasn't the first time he was caught staring while deciding on what to do, to walk away, or something else.
But was staring anything but just annoying to the one being gawked at? In his mind, all he did was appreciate her figure and find certain points of the woman appeasing - one of which was she looked almost like a younger version of himself, ignoring the feminine features. Before the cannibal, before the fire, when his face was whole. Of course, he was grasping at straws, but she was the closest thing to what he saw back in those days for a long time now.
Not sure.He hummed in response, a monotone reply but not one that could be mistaken as aggressive. Rude perhaps, but that was nothing new when it came down to it.

She raised an eyebrow at him, his answer leaving much still up in the air—most importantly, why he was here. He could have just stumbled on her while exploring or passing through, but then why hadn't he said that? She found it all kind of annoying, and it showed in the roll of her eyes she offered next.
Well, you're welcome to join me over here if you want...or keep staring. Your choice, I guess. She shrugged her slender shoulders then looked to the side, over the edge of the plateau to drag her gaze along the place where the horizon met the sea. She was careful not to turn her whole body, though. Despite her teasing, she still didn't trust him yet.

The gargoyle of a man stood for a moment while pondering her offering for him to approach. The thought of turning away and moving on was tempting, however, he hadn't spent much time with anyone other than just Rusalka wolves lately, perhaps some time with a stranger would do him good. A fresh point of view.
Sluggishly he moved toward her, to sit and look out into the direction she was while trying to ignore him and made sure that the marred side of his face was away from her instead of staring the young lady in the face with exposed flesh and teeth.
His eye wandering the abyss that she chose to stare into, seeing... ultimately nothing. No sunset or sunrise that he often found himself gazing at, just... wild empty space. Did she see something he didn't? Was she meditating? His eye wandered over to her now without moving his head and tried to make something out of this.

Now what?It was meant to be more so thought to himself than verbalized, but the feeling still stood regardless of its intentions.

Minutes passed between her offer and when she felt his presence at her side. But she continued to look out over the side of the plateau and give him the chance to make the decision for himself. She almost wondered if he would just continue on his way, which would have been fine too, but eventually it seemed he had decided to accept her invitation for company.
She turned from the view to study the side of his face when he spoke. Now what? She wasn't really sure. She hadn't really thought much about what she would say if he came to sit down. But she could start with her name.

I'm Simmik, Beta of Neverwinter Forest, she told him.
For starters. She shrugged a bit and offered him a playful curve of her lips. Her fiery gaze roamed over him, at least what she could see with him only offering her his profile; he was large, much larger than she was, and she was no small wolf thanks to her lineage. She wondered if he was a warrior. Maybe he could teach her some things? She had a few questions for him first, and of course, he still needed to introduce himself. So she held off asking him anything just yet, deciding to give him a chance to speak more before bombarding him with her usual curiosity.

This felt awkward, but when did it not? He wasn't a social type of guy, to sit and talk about the weather or of other things that seemed redundant, which most things did unless he felt as if he was genuinely learning about something he didn't know anything about previously. She offered a name and well, it was something new he learned, he supposed.
A pause in the barely-worthy-to-be-called conversation. To think that someone would just throw their ranks out to a stranger of a different pack, did it mean something to others what rank they held in a different pack? Perhaps.
Did it matter?

Gamma of Rusalka.Maybe it was a badge of honor or something, a way to show that they were respected where they were from he imagined. If that was the case, she was more so than he was in Rusalka despite only being one rank lower.
Did it matter?
Neverwinter Forest, never heard of it.Hopefully, she didn't take it personally - he didn't know of many packs around other than the other beach pack, Rusalka, and... well, none really popped out into his thoughts at the moment that he knew their names of. He smelled many during his travels, but that was about it. Scents, faces, but no names really.

Just as he had never heard of her pack, she had never heard of Rusalka.
Where is that?she asked, instantly curious. It seemed no matter how much she explored, she was always finding out about packs she never knew existed; she supposed that wasn't all that surprising, though. No one could know everything.
We are just south of here in the thick, evergreen forest. It's not easy to miss if you ever head that way.she explained.
And do you have a name?she asked, not missing for a second that he had yet to offer it to her. He was kind of strange, but that didn't necessarily matter to her. If anything, it made her more interested.
