All Welcome
Ash Paw woke with a start, rushed from her den and immediately lost anything she ate the night before in the bushes near her den. Then she moved a few paces away and sunk to the earth, the world spinning around her. She had to close her eyes from the onslaught of dizziness that overtook her. She lay there panting, feeling the worse she had in some time.

Her stomach gave a pathetic gurgle and the thought of putting more food into it, made her stomach roll again and she had to swallow quickly to stem the hot bile that wanted to rush forth. She knew symptoms well, knew what they meant.

She could be sick of course with whatever Ingram had, but she had no mucus, her chest didn't feel funny. It was just nausea and dizziness. She had made sure to take herbs to stave off infection and colds after she had been around him too. In case of.

She should head to her den, but it was so cold out here and she felt so cool, surely it wouldn't hurt to lay here a moment. To help her stomach settle.

Andr had his nose on overtime. Scenting the air and game trails of the abundant black tail deer population. He wasn't particularly hungry but thought this would be a good location to scout out. Understand what about this area in particular amassed such a large population. From the tall grasses to the to the dark and silver forests to the birds eye view of the flatlands below it was hard to pinpoint what they might like the best.

But another smell caught his nose. An unpleasant one. Intrigued he followed it and found a multi-colored female laying down in the snow. A pile of bile beside her. "Are you alright Miss?" Andr asked gently not wanting to startle her.

Ash Paw heard approaching foot steps and lifted her head to meet the eyes of another. Brown and soft, male. He held blue eyes like her own, but different too. She tilted her head to the side, ears thrust forward and slowly worked her way to sitting.

I'm fine. Just pregnant.

She shifted and scratched at the ground putting some dirt atop the bile that lay nearby. She  motioned for him to follow her.

If you want conversation that's fine, but I need to get some mint first and ginger.

She headed towards her den, finding herself more accommodating than she usually was. Probably from just lack of energy or care. She just wanted to sleep and couldn't be bothered to be irritable with others.

Oh pregnant. Nothing to be inherently concerned about, but also not inherently pleasant. Andr had known a handful of pregnant females in his birth pack. Most that were arrived in such a state. He had offered his help where he could but didn't have intimate knowledge of the condition.

She moved slowly and got to her feet, mentioning a few herbs as she began to walk. Andr assumed they would help her condition. "Is there anything I can do to offer my assistance? I'm not well versed with plants but would be willing to try and scout some out with a detailed description... Or even just a shoulder to lean on should you like the added support?" he offered walking behind her to start.

Ash couldn't boast a knowledge like her granma, or her auntie about pregnancy, but she knew enough to get herself through it. To know what would happen at the end and how to handle the symptoms until then.

No I have them all in my done. Though I don't mind the company and the offer to hold me up should I fall.

She turned to look him over with blue eyes. You aren't from around here?

He had a different way of speaking and he didn't look like any she had met. He was nicer than most for one thing. Most of the wolves she had met were short and standoffish.

After hearing her consent to a potential aid Andr trotted up to walk alongside her in case anything were to happen, but still kept and gentlemanly distance. Though a relationship was not on his mind he knew how one became pregnant and knew that she may very well have a mate. A crude male filled with jealousy and contempt no doubt. Or perhaps she had been abandoned as her mother had been.

"That's correct Miss. I am Andromed Dorian from the pack Doris. Though you may call me Andr if you prefer. It's quite a journey from here. I've been wandering these new Wilds for a few months now. Is there something about me that tells you such?" he asked hoping it was something positive.

Goodness I'm so sorry. This got lost in my shuffle.

He was a gentleman wolf this one and though she liked it. There wasn't a wildness to him like the ones she tended to veer towards. That small little inbetween feral and normal. If she had been privy to his thoughts. Wouldn't he have died. Had he known she sought out to find a male to father her children and had offered three men herself, two took her up on it. She knew exactly what she had been doing.

She chuckled. You're not as rough as the men around here. Polite even. You don't find them often. There are some hidden. But most of them are just alittle rougher.

That's alright. I went on a small break myself so this works out well :)

She spoke of his politeness. He took this as a compliment. But the description of a more rough and disrespectful sort of man, made his nose furrow. The thought of her having an interaction with such an individual upset him.

"It sounds as though you may be playing down their behavior." Her description of 'alittle rougher' sounded like a mother defending the actions of a child. Admitting to bad behavior but making it sound like it wasn't as bad as it truly was.

"I hope none were too brutish with you. Seems to me you're likely a woman worthy of respect and... politeness" he said with a smile and a hint of humor as he reused her description.

He wondered if she had found a hidden gem like him as she described to be the father of her children. But based on the way she described the male population of the area, he thought that unlikely. Though he wouldn't dare ask her about it directly as they were only just acquaintances as of today.

Ash Paw chuckled. Perhaps I was. But when you're used to it. Well. She shrugged. There were the fair few that weren't ill mannered and brutish, but not many. At least not that she had met.

Ash Paw laughed at that and shook her head. Raising her head a notch. Andr, what makes you think any man could ever be brutish with me? I assure you he couldn't and wouldn't. Or I would quickly set him to rights.

She chuckled again, a small shake of her head. She was haughty and proud and hard to handle for a reason.

Her comments brought a smile to his face. It loosened him up, hearing that she wasn't one shy to stand up for herself. "I'm certain any that have or will attempt to do so are in for a harsh awakening" A tamer of beasts. If his assumptions of the local masculine population were accurate, he was happy to know her presence was in the area.

"You referenced some herbs in a nearby den. Do you live out here alone?" he asked. Being alone could be challenging but wasn't impossible. But caring for a litter of pups alone sounded like quite the feat.

Ash had never been fearful of speaking her mind. As a matter of fact it had regularly gotten her in trouble. She thought of Atka and Sos and threw a prayer towards them. They had made her just perfect the way she was, at least she felt so. She was the way she was for a reason.

My pack used to leave here, but our numbers grew too small and we disbanded. We all went our separate ways. I have a pack I am heading too, I just wanted to gather some of my herbs to take along. I'm a healer.

"Is the quantity of herbs you wish to transport an abundant amount? If so I can offer to take part of the load." he offered.

They could likely be approaching her den soon. He wasn't quite sure how long she had been without a pack. How far this new pack was away. Despite voicing her ability to care for herself, Andr couldn't help but offer assistance - an excuse to secondarily offer protection.

Ash Paw looked at him for a moment, listening to the way he talked. Such a proper young male. It was interesting, and it fit him so well.

It's an exorbitant amount actually. So I would love help. When we first arrived here, to stake our claim. I was quite lucky to find gardens and caches that had been cultivated for years. I don't wish to leave here. But I cannot stay on my own. So I want to take what I can. Start a new garden.

They had made it and she motioned for him to go ahead into her cozy den. A soft longing to stay rose within her bittersweet. But she knew she couldn't.

Another feeling of warm joy grew in his chest as she accepted his offer to help.

He could sense a feeling of homesickness in her. "Taking what you can now and abandoning the rest could be an interesting reason for return. To see how they fair on their own uncultivated. A pleasant surprise could await you" Andr didn't know much about plants, but they could and often did care for themselves. Under a rightful eye, they could flourish beyond standard performance, but could also limit the potential for spontaneity.

When they arrived at the den, following her gesture, he entered her den. Starting from the back he gently lifted and pushed what herbs he could see closer to the entrance so she would have an easier time getting them out and sorting through what she wanted to take.

"This pack you wish to make your new home. Is it far?"

A small laugh it could be yes.

She began to sort immediately, blue eyes going through. Mint yes good for mouth and sickness, though a bit hard. Mmm ginger for nausea. Aloe for stretch and scars. Chamomile only a little.

She looked at him with knowledge shining in her eyes fircing herself to pay attention.

not far no.

She was quick and her knowledge on the surface level of her mind. Andr could hear her rattling off the names of different herbs and their benefits behind him as he moved the remaining cache to the front of the den. Mint being hard? Andr didn't often think of plants are hardened things, and looking at it now it didn't look dense. Just simple, with strongly scented leaves.

Her eyes exuded intelligence. Seemingly wise beyond her years, complementing her mature beauty. A focus that made him think of how he hunted prey. Something he felt he should not interrupt. Waiting until she sorted out that which was in front of her before he spoke.

"How long have you cultivated herbs...?" he searched for a name but realized he did not have one for her. "Sorry... Would you allow me to know your name?" he asked.

Mint was not hard plant. Not it was just harsh sometimes on weak stomachs. It was a strong herb. Cleared your airways well, and settled your stomach as long as you didn't over due it.

Ash Paw twitched her tail in thought. All my life. My auntie, cousin and father and I. We offered healing to wolves passing through in return for stories, or news, or hunting. Until well daddy died, auntie came this way to die and Gunnar well he's settled around here somewhere. Probably a patriarch of some pack. He's one of those real responsible, serious types. Doesn't ever say bad things about anybody, wise and calm.

Oh goodness. Forgive me. I'm Ash Paw.

Healing was in her blood he took it from her explanation. Her background sounded complicated and he didn't feel it right to pick at that past the surface. This Gunnar she spoke of stood out in his mind. Process of elimination meant this man was her cousin. He made a point not to show it on his face as he was a family member of hers, but the idea of a man who wanted to lead a patriarch already put a bad taste in Andr's mouth, despite her following compliments.

"An honor to meet you Ash Paw" he nodded to her with a smile. Looking at the progress she had made he wagered they would soon be off. "What shall I take?" he asked. Herbs could be sensitive things and so he asked before taking any action to carry them on their journey. Perhaps she could want to handle the more fragile.

Final posts? We can say that they carried the herbs to the border of Riverclan and Andr left before anyone else arrived.

I'm fine with that. Thank you so much for the thread <3

Ash Paw would have laughed had she been privy to the other's thoughts. Gunnar was the epitome of gentle and kind. He was fatherly, that was all. There was nothing harsh in his thinking or his movements or anything. He was very much his mother's son.

She pressed mint, and chamomile and aloe towards him. These please Then she would grasp her own herbs and they'd be off towards the riverclan borders and what awaited her there.
