All Welcome
He figured he should not have stood so far from Dragonspine with @Masquerade the way she was, but here he stood anyway.

The cold of a glacier soured him near immediately as he roved it. It twisted his features into a stuck scowl that seemed to somehow mark him as younger than he truly was. Regardless he forged onward with a quick clip.

His goal was to return something to Dragonspine.

Bodies, food or information.

The glacier's chill was soothing underfoot, a nice respite from the heat. He had intended to climb high and survey the valley to get a good look at where he wanted to go from here. Instead, his eyes fell on the slinking figure of a boy.

Goldeneye was no stranger to meeting new people, but the thunderous expression this one wore almost had him slip back unnoticed into the rocky landscape. Still, there must've been a reason for his sojourn; no one would willingly subject themself to something that made them miserable without a good excuse. Curiously, he drew closer with a gentle chuff and a wave of his feathered tail.

He was charmed.

The body was pale as if it rose from the glacier itself but the head of the beast was dark. Nearly a floating head in the way it hovered over the glacier's landscape. The stranger looked like someone who belonged here, unlike Dagur who already found himself missing the slopes of Dragonspine.

But he had promised himself to return with something — or someone.

His features fell from a scowl into something more curious. His tail tentatively waved behind him, a crooning note in his throat.

He doubted that he himself looked charming, but maybe he could try to sound it...

His efforts attracted the boy's attention, much to the duck's delight.

He was an odd fellow up close, with mismatched fur and eyes that reminded him keenly of a sister once lost to the waves. A noise that sounded to be something like a greeting was met with a shy smile, though Goldeneye made no further move to close the distance between them. Wary, watching, aware of the advantage the stranger had in size and in muscle.

"Are you looking for something, too?" He came to break the ice, gaze unwavering from the other though his tone remained light and questioning.

He found himself greatly relieved that they spoke first. It saved him from fumbling around with words that might fit this.

He tried to think of all the things Raider had said to him. Granted most of his thinking had been shined in the light of survival. More bodies meant more hunting meant more meat.

Yes, His voice was deep, rasped and somehow that struck a new chord of self-conscious thinking that had never existed before.

What— Words felt clumsy and he hated bending them to fit him. What you looking for?

When he spoke, Goldeneye listened. Sometimes, when a wolf would return from the ocean it would be with a voice like his, cracked and dry from saltwater inhalation. Had this happened to him too?

He found himself dwelling momentarily on the thought before he came to reply. "A place to stay - I guess. A place to be." The words caught in his throat slightly, pitying.

Instead of speaking further, his dark head tilted in a silent question; what are you looking for?

Something somewhere must have smiled upon Dagur that day, to make it seem this easy.

Carefully he stepped forward with hopes of closing the distance between them. He wanted to see this one up close. Maybe to admire, maybe to appraise.

I know place.

His gaze became something akin to jewels instead of the depths of murky waters. Something to shine instead of sink.

You hunt?

He did not know the order of important skills to Raider and Riley, but surely this had to be high on the chart. More mouths to feed would need more teeth to hunt.

Goldeneye sucked in a breath at the sudden closeness. From here he could see a split in his lip; as his gaze raked across the body of the boy, more scars revealed themselves. Long-healed, it seemed, but ones that would have been painful nonetheless. Intrusively, he wondered who had patched him up, or if they had simply been left to run their course.

He nodded in response to his question, green eyes pulling him in with intrigue. "Yes, I hunt. And I heal." Tentatively, he closed the remaining distance to trace the boy's forehead, pulling away only once he felt smooth scar tissue beneath his nose.

The scent of others was strong upon his fur, though he could not discern how many. "What place? Who lives there?" he quizzed, if only for his own peace of mind.

What was this?

A touch that roved his forehead, that touched the gnarled parts of him. Scars that were uneven and tattered, all had most certainly been left for them to either heal or kill him.

He still stood, didn't he?

Gently he puffed his chest as if he now offered himself to be seen in full. Who would not want to live where such a grand hunter and fighter like himself lived? A healer would mean that he could continue to do these things — but someone would mend his flesh instead of a sure coin-flip with infections and death.

Dragonspine.

His voice was not so sheepish now, whatever bud of self-conscious thinking had been before now fell away.

Me. Two others.

He did not speak to the fact yet that Raider would surely pop out many more little hunters and fighters. That was a vulnerability and truthfully, not his to share.

The boy appeared to grow in confidence following his touch. The duck relished the sudden vulnerability, taking in each nook and cranny, each imperfection in his rugged form as a doctor would. He presented himself in turn, though he had no battle scars to share. Only the tug of his heartstrings which, unfortunately, were invisible save for a quiet noise of distress.

"Will you take me there?" he asked eventually. Truthfully, he was loath to let the boy out of his sight lest he suddenly succumb to another injury - as irrational as he knew that was.

"We can hunt along the way - are you hungry? I'm sure the others would appreciate a meal, too."

This would be a man of Dragonspine.

Yet Dagur felt ugly curls of possessiveness lick up his ribs. He could not explain it. It was different from the way things had been with the gang or the Big Woman at the lake.

His answer was to all of the questions.

We hunt.

He could not say why he reached for the man now. Teeth wanted to find tufts of fur or tender skin. Anything to briefly grasp at before he let go.

The glacier did not seem so terrible as he was prepared to spin away and lead them back towards Dragonspine. Hunting could be found along the way, that he was certain of.

A curl of his ashen tail followed the boy's one word answer. There was a certain charm to his directness and it was something he had begun to appreciate despite only having met for a matter of minutes.

He willed himself to release the last bit of tension as his companion returned the gentle touch. Warmth spread where teeth met skin as butterflies bloomed in his stomach. A brief nose of the boy's cheek as he willed him to stay a moment longer.

"Call me Goldeneye," he offered the final piece of the puzzle before readying himself to leave.

would you like to fade this in favor of getting a join up at dragonspine? <3

Goldeneye.

It was not another R name like Raider or Riley, but it was a good name. One that directly reflected the man who wore it.

Dagur.

His tail only waved brief with unspoken approval of this man. The trek back to Dragonspine would not be so terrible, but it would require focus if they wished to hunt along the way.

Yes![

"Dagur." The name was smooth upon his tongue despite the roughness of the one that wore it. "Lead the way!" He pulled away with a bounding step, an invitation for Dagur to depart when he was ready.

Life on the road did not suit Goldeneye, nor did loneliness treat him well, and like a little lost duckling he had found a quick attachment to the boy. Cold turned to warmth as the glacier fell away behind them, and soon enough the pair would hunt before their eventually arrival at Dragonspine's borders.
