Blu carried an injured Killdeer in her jowls, it's pathetic trilling screams had long since faded to hopeless squeaks here and there, of which she paid no mind. They were ghostly echoes in a hollow atmosphere. The taste of avian blood that had slowly trickled from its plumage and pooled onto her tongue was like full-bodied merlot slowly seeping into her predatory veins and producing a decadent high.
Her normally wide-eyed stare was more relaxed, she even blinked here and there. Still, her head darted to-and-fro every few steps to search for silhouettes or movements, but the fog made it hard to see. Even worse, her normally trusty nose was clogged with the sharp salty smell of Killdeer blood and feathers. Nothing could stop the wolf though, who was on a mission and wouldn't let the unfamiliar surroundings and looming smells of other wolves stop her. She would find the perfect grounds for the ritual even if the search became treacherous.

Given how close the plains were to the plateau, Ty often found herself there, meandering about and keeping her eyes wide open for recruits. The place was busy enough, and when she smelled wolf and the dead bird, she wanted to approach the source. Then again, doing so might be seen as a threat, so Tytonidae hung back, for the time being, not wanting to cramp the hunter's style. At first, she found it curious that the wolf would not want to eat right away, but perhaps they wished to get to a more secluded area before scarfing down their meal. That was the currently-winning theory in Ty's mind as she stuck close, but not close enough to be a bother.
Unfortunately, she must have miscalculated because, in a matter of minutes, she was face-to-face with the female who held the bird in her mouth. "I'm not here to steal your food. Just recruiting for a pack."

Grammarly browser extension is gonna hate Blu xD
Blu detected faint hints of another wolf within proximity and hardly blinked (she never did that much anyway) when the stranger stepped within her line of sight and spoke of recruiting. She dropped the Killdeer and protected it betwixt front paws. While watching the other she whispered, wide-eyed, to herself, "Fascination..." It was beyond her fathoming as to why anyone would recruit for a pack. Weren't you simply born into one and that was that? "If... if... pack is blood is bound, possibility is not in which speaks you!"
Then she remembered her "food" as the other put it, and gave them a quizzical grin, as if they were silly and foolish. "This?! This not food... for not at least any on this world." Truth be told Blu didn't exactly know how the spirits consumed the offerings, it was more like an invisible transaction that took place in another realm. "So tell please of recruit. How possibility is this??" Perplexion drenched her features like the jungle floor in monsoon season.
