Glad to finally see her smile, he gave a farewell of his own at her dismissal, then went on to take a quick jaunt about the territory.  It served two purposes... it made sure nothing was out of place and no one had intruded, and it also made him available should anyone wish to seek him out.  He liked to follow patterns most days, so others could find and speak with him at will.

As the sky began to slowly darken, though, he jogged the short distance from where he was to where he knew Osprey to stay.  She was there when he arrived, having slowed to a walk so as not to come up quickly and startle her.  She was covered in mud, which surprised him, but the source was apparent in the overturned earth nearby.  The effort seemed unnecessary to him, for his offer still stood on a perfectly good den that he'd already spent days readying that fall, but he did not say so.  If this was the spot that she wished to reside, then he knew on instinct that it was right and not to question it.

Instead he cast a friendly smile at her, settling down with a small amount of space between them.  Whether or not to close that gap was up to her.  "Been busy, I see," he said conversationally, appraising the hole.  She'd accomplished quite a bit while he'd been roving.
