Arverk was glad that the wolverine's response to his greeting was a meeker approach than his own. It meant that he had earned Kapvik's respect, not that he needed in first place but it was good to know he was getting somewhere in Ouroboros Spine. He may be of higher rank than the dark male, but the swarthy wolf knew (or guessed) that rank didn't matter to someone like the Epsilon, respect had to be earnt first to know that one was worthy of the rank they were occupying. Arverk understood that, because even though the leaders gave them this rank, he still wanted to check if the guy should be in that rank or if he was worthier.

Arverk didn't make friends easily. In his natal pack, others usually avoided him given his bastard status and if they got close to him, they would be labeled as one of the worthless ones. Mostly the wolves stayed away but if one came and got to know him, the whale would tell them to get away, afraid of what others might think of it and what kind of horrible treatment they would give his new companion. He had been hoping to meet some new friends in the Spine, but here, he understood that the bond of packmates ran deeper than friends. Still, he thought of his relationship with the wolverine as a sort of a mutual friendship.

He quite liked Kapvik despite how he disrespected authority. Truth to be told he didn't understand why others were so angry about it. Okay, getting angry over the fact that the wolverine didn't greet the leaders when he arrived at the hunt was warranted and justified but other times, it was natural to challenge the order of things and know where one's place was. As far as the whale was concerned, it was natural and he didn't get why some of the leadership was so vexed about it.

Those thoughts were shook out of his head as the fiery Alpha began speaking. He ended up being paired with Iqniq to isolate the target, which was fine with him since he got along well with the russet male unlike some others. So when the golden wolf gave the order to spread out, Arverk obediently moved out, though not before he watched Kroc teach the wolverine his place. Though the Roman liked the wolverine, he couldn't help but admit that this time, Kapvik deserved it. Every bit of it.
