Someone called his name and Peregrine's eyes shifted painfully to locate Elwood. His hoary faced knitted with concern, the Beta male approached with questions springing off his tongue. The Alpha male began to shake his head, yet stopped when a sharp needle of pain throbbed through the corner of his eye. He could have sworn his actual eyeball pulsated too, which was both alarming and disgusting.

"I don't know what's going on with me," Peregrine admitted, unable to keep the slight thread of panic out of his own voice. "And I'm not sure Sebastian could help. I don't think even Blue Willow could help. There's something wrong with my hhh—" His voice cut off abruptly as he hissed with another stab of agony. It felt like his eyeball might explode as more blood began to stream from his eye.
