New eyes beheld the soft blur of starlight.

Darrow splayed at the den's gaping entrance and gazed skyward. The night was calm, save for a soft breeze that tickled his nose with scents he couldn't place. These were different than any in the den - though his mama and papa sometimes carried them in, when they descended from the world outside.

He dared place a paw beyond the denmouth's shadow, though his whiskers quivered. Something instinctual held him back - but for how long?

Darrow cast a long glance over his shoulder before he turned back to the starlight and toed a little closer.
