upon the first of the month, before dawn had begun to lighten the sky, vuk awoke with a strange and frightening stirring in her gut. she pulled herself from the den she shared with illea and moved into the crisp air of early morning, now laden with the green scent of budding spring. ears falling back in consternation, the patterned girl gave a whine of fear, warmth spreading through her loins.

though she did not know it, from the secret places between her legs, vuk began to let forth an aroma designed to drive the males of her species mad with want and with desire. and in her heart lust built; vuk called forth the faces into memory of the two wolves for which she had stifled want -- taggarik and the nameless wolf who was the beta of the ridge.

and as morning moved across the land, vuk felt herself in the steeled grasp of desire, her legs moving toward wherever one of them might be, her body shuddering and nerves rippling with need.
