No one called back yet, so Dirge kept making his way forward. Surely Saor had to be somewhere in the forest, but given the state of it he wasn't sure if or when he would find her. His noisy approach lessened the further he went, an unconscious decision to converse energy. But the news he wanted to share with her burned red hot on his tongue, almost stinging more than any ill-minded place he had ever found it.

He scarcely made it much further before the sense that he was not alone came to him. His steps went still in an instant, his body tense with awareness. Of course this came swift at the heels of a chuff in the humid air. He didn't have to search with his eyes long before he saw her — and she was not Saor. Nor was she Nyx either. But she was a pretty little thing and the mischief spread in her expression was not lost on him.

It was a distraction, but one he was too simple-minded to pass by.

Instead he found his own mischievous smile coming to his face; his dark lips upturned not unlike the cheshire cat in the eaves about to speak to Alice. His tail flipped through a gentle wag. "I'd have half a mind to think you're a wood nymph laying a trap," he murmured, almost more to himself than for her to hear. Maybe she was a wood nymph though. They were certainly in the right place, though he had little taste for childish tales about woodland spirits.
