Big Salmon Lake Relativity

Colt didn’t notice Quixote’s bewilderment, and if he had, likely he wouldn’t have tied it to his own friendliness.  Colt had never been much of the territorial sort, not since leaving home.  Had to have a home worth protecting for that.

”Good luck,” he replied somewhat noncommittaly.  He knew next to nothing about the wolves in these parts, despite having run into a couple last time he was here.  He tended to run into loners, and with good reason.  If he wasnt looking to sign over his loyalty, he doubted any of them would want him hanging about.

”You can’t chase them any better in a lake than a river.  Less you got fins hiding under that tail.” Colt bent slightly, keeping his eye trained on the water.  It did take a bit, but eventually, a mediumish shadow flitted across his peripherals.  Cmon, cmon...... yes!

He lunged and managed to snag the slippery thing, which immediately set to flopping like a, well, fish outta water.  “Shit”.  The fish had managed to get lose before he could get a better hold or toss it to the bank, but that wasn’t entirely the reason for the curse.  Another was the cause of his momentary distraction.  A familiar mountain, one that he recognized as soon as his head rose from the water and his eyes set out over the trees.
