Smokestep welcomed the company of Erzulie and the others. He swam against the tide until his limbs were weary and he didn’t feel as though he could weather the swell much longer. With his crew, the pallid Captain drank in the joy that had been created. He basked in the glow of the others and the light that glistened against the sea. It was ghostly, ethereal. There would never be another night like it. Smokestep did not know this, and so he enjoyed the evening in a blissful and unaware state of joy that lingered in his bones long after the evening had expired.
