there was a deep ache within eshamun for children of her own, made stronger by the knowledge that two children lived in asherah's den. the scent of milk was strong there, and finally the ekar-aji roused herself one morning and moved toward the acolyte's den with a small rabbit's scapula caught in her jaws. the children were not yet a month but there was no reason not to introduce them to the scent of their prey.
the canaanite paused outside the denmouth and chuffed lightly to announce her presence.

To clarify, does this take place before or after the ceremony?
Though many mothers longed to be outside their den, Asherah found the walls did not press on her. She was most content when within it, though her children were still young. She wondered if time would change her preference, but could not imagine it being so. She still found herself so enthralled by the idea that she was a mother, by the fact that she awoke to children- her children- at her side every morning.
She was dozing lightly when Eshamun's chuff roused her, and she smiled despite the fact that the woman could not see it from outside the den. "Come in, please." She called, pleased to share her children and her den with her sister. She had told the woman once these children were her's as well, and she meant it. Eshamun could mother them too. The more love they had, the better. Though she might not have allowed another female such liberties, Eshamun was special to her and she was filled only with love at the idea of the woman doting on her children.

The rumble of the lump she dozed upon woke her, the lump that gave life. she stirred, and her puppy-blue gaze blinked open, and still the colours and shapes that flooded her senses excited her. There was her mother, the red-brown lump that was almost always in the vicinity, and there was, upon inspection, the small lump of a sibling. But there was another, she noted with a chirp, and interested in the lump made dark by the light of the Unknown that surrounded it, she wiggled fiercely toward it, light, happy noises tumbling from her maw as she did so.

Unlike his sibling, he was awake and nursing happily when he felt the big thing rumble. He released the nipple, blinked blearily at the shape that made dark the bright white. He had learned that there were other big things. This one, who had the warm smell good, one who smelled differently from both of the other two, and the one he thought was here now.
He heard his sibling whining and looked to see her wiggling towards the shape. He instead chose to linger back near the warm smell good wolf. It occurred to him that the other might be hiding their own smell good, but that only made him angry and more resolute to stay put. He wiggled deeper into smell good wolf, issuing a loud grunt of over-dramatic contentment.

eshamun did as she was bid, smiling widely at asherah. the woman held grief in her heart still, of this the ekar-aji was sure. and so she held the acolyte's eyes for a moment, before dropping her gaze to the gently moving bundles on the warm floor of the den. "what are their names?" one child stayed burrowed near asherah's breast, but the other was squirming toward her. eshamun pushed forward the scapula she had brought into the den and waited to see what the little one would make of it.

They held gazes for a moment, and Asherah felt comfort knowing that Eshamun had suffered the same loss. She felt humbled knowing that Eshamun had given all, where she had only given one. Her ears flicked as Anatha began scrabbling and squeaking towards Eshamun. She smiled warmly, pleased to see one of her children so loving already toward her sister.
A quick glance told her that Elohim was less interested in interacting just yet. She nosed him gently, attempting to comfort him and hopefully encourage him to come out. Asherah looked with interest as Anatha was offered the toy, wondering what her child would make of this strange new thing. "This is Anatha, daughter of the Malkaria, a sister eager already to greet her Ekar-Aji. The less social is Elohim, son of the Malkaria." She chuckled softly as she gazed back at her boy, before turning her eyes back to Eshamun and Anatha. There was an eagerness in her gaze, a desire to please and for her children to please her leader.

There was suddenly a thing before her, the likes of which she had never seen before. She latched her gummy jaws around it without much thought, offering a muffled babble as she gnawed on the scapula. Latching onto the bone, she rolled onto her back so that it rested on her chest, but quickly finding that she did not like this position, she instead lurched to her paws ungainly.
Holding still the bone in her maw, and toddling awkwardly towards the mother lump, tilting dangerously at times and threatening to fall. She had was not yet especially good at waking, it seemed.

He watched the little one (for in his mind he was obviously larger) approach the larger shape, though he tried to appear disinterested. The smell good wolf made rumbles that he recognized, though he could not repeat them. A certain rumble he had begun to think might mean the smell good wolf was talking to him, and the other little one had a rumble all her own. He saw that the other little one suddenly had a gift and became instantly interested.
How unfair that the little lump would get something and not him. Pulling himself from the smell good he stood on wobbling legs and attempted his best at a direct march towards this new thing. He sniffed it even as the little one held it, opening his mouth to take an end himself. It didn't taste as good as the smell good, but there was a pleasant quality to it all the same. He sucked at it as he would a nipple and then attempted to pull it from the little one.
