All Welcome
Arlo trotted around the southern border of Drageda for most of the morning before returning to Hougeda. He often runs into the other kru but most of this particular morning he’d been alone without seeing another until his way back. As he drops into the cavern with ease, his paws still itching for activity, he notices @Bobby whom he barks to right away. His tail swishes behind him and he gives the boy a smile before he pulls him closer with a jerk of his nose. Komba,” he beckons and trots toward the back where the cavern turns into a tunnel, opening out into a smaller one where it meets the ocean. “We’ll fish today,” he instructs as he makes his way around the ledge.

The large tide pool Drageda offers during the low levels of the ocean is much easier than the lake at higher ground. It’ll likely be easier to teach Bobby how to fish here rather than Artaax where the water is deeper and he’s limited to how the fish swim. As he trots to the tip, furthers from the ocean waves, he turns back to see if his charge had followed.

this is the second post I've done tonight for Bobby that has, what I think is funny figurative language haha :)

Bobby had found a hobby! It turned out he loved looking at his reflection in the lake and grooming himself. He didn't hide the fact that he liked the way he looked, he strutted it! He liked the way his dark grey and black fur whipped around in the wind, he liked the way his blazing red chest fur seemed to glow golden in the sunlight. And he liked the way his eyes looked too, in all of their sunlight colored glory. Was Bobby a bit full of himself today? Perhaps, but at least he wasn't totally bored, what with nobody around all morning.

He turned away from grooming his fur when he heard a bark. It was Arlo, and the man seemed like he had something planned. Curious, Bobby rose to follow him even before he asked him to, and the boy hurried to his side quickly. Bobby was about to ask what they were doing, but Arlo answered before he could. A smile lit the small boy's face, and he forgot about his previous activity. While he found that fighting wasn't exactly his thing, hunting was. He liked the thrill, and it was a lot easier in his opinion.

He followed the pale wolf through the tunnels of the cavern to an opening, and the the edge of a glimmering tide pool. Pockets of foam scattered on the surface of the pool, foam patches that Bobby referred to as 'Sea Spit'. He batted at some of it, and watched it dissipate into the water. Then he looked back at Arlo. What first? He asked, giving the male his complete and undivided attention.

As he settles against the edges of the tide pools where the foam touches his toes, he decides on how he’s going to teach the boy how to fish. The first attempt with Artaax had been successful, but frustrating, and definitely not anything the paler boy will continue. He’d helped Robin with hunting birds (in a fabulous display of embarrassment) and he doesn’t want to have a repeat in something he’s supposed to be good at.

When asked what first?, he scans the pool to see a collection of mussels on one end. “Something easy. It is more of a treat,” he offers, knowing they’re going to do a little bit more work with less reward but there is still some excitement to be had behind it—or so he hoped. “There’s this soft, chewy meat inside these shells. If we dig them away, we can try to open them,” he explains before he begins to work his paw against a wall of mussels.

Something easy? Oh no, Bobby was done doing easy things just because he was young! He wanted to do the real thing! He wanted to tell his mentor this, but he waited, because the task he was given might be more fun than he expected. So instead of complaining, he nodded his head, only a small hint of frustration in his honey eyes. Arlo explained that these things that Bobby assumed were rocks, actually had meat inside them, and they were going to dig them out of the wall and crack them. Ok, didn't sound that boring!

Cool. He said, and began digging as well. His paws didn't seem to be doing much damage, and he wasn't patient enough to keep trying, so he tried a different tactic. He grabbed one of the shells in his teeth and tried to yank it out. He wriggled his butt as he tried, a grunt coming out of his throats as he worked.

Arlo puts a little faith that Bobby can find his own spot to dig and bite and tear at the clams and mussels in the tide pool. After a few attempts, he’s able to weasel a few of them off and they drop into the water, half floating and half sinking. Every once in a while, he turns his head and glances at the boy’s work but he’s quick to start picking out the mouthful of gems he’s collected and toss them up on the sand. He’s managed to knock about seven, requiring him to dip into the water more than once and get them all up and out. As he steps out of the water, he shakes off, and picks up one of his catches, dips it in water, and begins to work at it with his back teeth to try and crack it open.

By the time Bobby managed to wriggle two of them out of the wall, Arlo already had seven. Bobby didn't care though, he walked his two mussels back to the sand with pride, his head held high. He set them down next to Arlo's pile, and watched as the older male took them in his teeth to crunch them. Bobby tried the same thing, he grabbed the bigger of his two finds and squeezed it in his teeth as hard as he could. Eventually he felt a crack, though for a moment he feared it was his tooth and not the shell.

He dropped it quickly then licked his tongue around his whole mouth. He didn't feel a snaggle tooth, so he figured he was ok. He shot Arlo a worried look, wondering if it was possible to break one's tooth, then returned to the mussel. Finally he popped it, a hole just big enough to stick the end of his tongue into the animal's shell. I did it! Now what? He asked, pushing the food towards Arlo for the other male to demonstrate.

Bobby began right away but he doesn’t hold them quite right. He lets it go, hoping he’ll figure it out and get to the end. His efforts don’t go unrewarded either but Arlo is too busy working on one of his one. He’s got it twisted in his mouth so his teeth try to crack at the edges. Eventually, he’s able to manage one tooth between each shell. A satisfying pops occurs and it breaks open like a clam and he drops it on the edge of the water. “You’ll need to make your hole a little bigger. And crack it from the sides on the next one,” he explains as his nose drops and he scoops the little gem of meat with his teeth out of its home.

Bobby didn’t get much praise for his job well done, and his ears dropped a little when he instead was given more instruction. However he did heed Arlo’s words, and found the other males way worked a lot better. Bobby was too prideful to admit to this, but he would do it Arlo’s way from here on out. The two males continued to crack clams and mussels for a while until finally it seemed they had enough. Arlo suggested they take as many as they could back into Hougeda to share, and Bobby nodded, preparing for quite a few trips back and forth.
