Firefly Ravine: A deep gorge separates the taiga from the coast, through which a rapid river rushes. Though there is only a little land at the bottom, it is teeming with flora and attracts a wide variety of insects and amphibians. Most notable are the fireflies that inhabit the ravine in the summer, lending it an ethereal glow each and every evening.

A small herd of white-tailed deer attempted to traverse the ravine. All of them made it, save for a small fawn which took a nasty tumble and died shortly thereafter. There is only enough meat to feed 3-4 wolves max.

Sen had slipped away from her den, leaving her daughters behind as per usual. She provided for them, still, nursing the little leeches and ensuring their stomachs were always full; as cold as she was, she did not wish to allow for her children to starve. Despite how annoying they could be at times, she'd grown far too attached to them already to just let them die—besides, doing so would have meant that her time spent raising them thus far would have been wasted. Soon, she would have to introduce them to everyone, but for the time being they were still hers. She cared for them, she protected them, she owned them. It was towards them that her focus often was, but, thankfully, things had changed slightly that day. She'd left them alone in order to stretch her legs, and during her walk she'd caught wind of a herd. The scent was stale, but she'd stalked after it anyways, hoping to spot a straggler. What she had found, however, was something far better, for already had its heart stopped beating.

Immediately, the woman had gone towards it, sinking her teeth into its stomach and then pulling back. She'd gotten a few bites in before reality dawned on her: she was a leader, and had a responsibility to uphold. And so, naught but a second later, she'd tilted her head back and howled for the rest of her pack. The corpse would not be enough for all of them, that was obvious, and so she'd decided right away that she'd chase off the last one or two that were to arrive. In the meantime, she'd worked on taking her share, only ever pausing briefly to lick her jaws clean of blood.

Zephyr had fallen low since realizing Heldi was not returning. His drive to leave had been squashed, though he still wandered back and forth over the border.
Today, he was sprawling in a shaft of sunshine when Sen called to him. With a sigh, he heaved himself to his massive snowy paws and galloped towards the dark alpha female. It took mere minutes for him to track her down and, when the scent of prey blood pricked at his nostrils, he slowed in time to come to a walk just feet before Sen. Seeing her already dug into the carcass, Zephyr does not waste time, ripping into its shoulder and swallowing his first dew bites without barely chewing. He does slow, however, feeling the meat hit his empty stomach like a rock. The ebony male spoke emotionlessly between bites, barely expecting an answer back.

Sadie was quick to hear Sen's call, coming at a full sprint to come closer. The scent of blood was already filling her noise, her pupils almost dialating. She looked towards the two, soon dipping her head to them both before gouging her teeth into the animal.

vermillion blood stained her tan and rust muzzle, the sound of small and fragile bones cracking only pleased Sadie. Fresh meat since a long time for her.

her share was plentiful in her eyes, enough to fill her belly. She lifted her gaze, her entire face smudged with blood. "How are ye doing lady Sen?" She asked, curious about the new mother.
Now we are ready to head for the Horn,
Way, ay, roll an' go!
Our boots an' clothes boys are all in the pawn,
Timmrollickin' randy dandy O!

Rana had been in search of a meal when she heard Sen's howl and quickly made her way towards the alpha. After a short run the stale scent of the herd mixed with fresh blood. This made the female's mouth water as she drew closer. Before she was in range to hear them feeding, she spotted the other three pack members over the fawn. She continued towards them until she stood close enough to hear a conversation, but far enough that she wouldn't disturb them.

Always an outcast in Seadog, Denali was surprised to hear Sen's howl include a note for his name. For a brief instant, he thought to ignore it--perhaps it had been a mistake--then he shook his head. Sen did not make mistakes. The burly wolf galloped toward the scene and found his pack hunched over a dead faun, teeth digging into their prey.

His mouth watered as his flared nostrils caught the tangy scent of fresh blood on the air. Finally, ungulates were making their way back to Teekon. He had not eaten anything larger than a rabbit in weeks.

Denali surveyed the kill. There wasn't much left. For an instant, he considered diving in, taking his fill, then he noticed Rana lurking behind as well. It would be incredibly bad wolf manners to "cut in front" of her, per se, so he took a step back, his stomach rumbling. After all, Rana had not eaten, and Sen needed all the food she could get for her pups.

He stifled a bark of amusement as the thought of Sen's welfare rose to his mind. Was he really starting to care for the beastly young female? Rolling his eyes, he began to pad away from the prey, despite his stomach growling in protest. He would find something else to eat, elsewhere.

Directly after howling, Sen had dived back into the carcass. She'd wasted no time acquiring her fill and, after others had arrived, she'd even offered a few warning snaps to make sure no one got too close to the section that she was working on. It had continued like that, too, with naught even the smallest of words leaving her mouth. She'd heard words being sent her way, but had focused on filling her stomach before answering to anything. Rude, perhaps, but reasonable all the same. The new mother couldn't let any of the more nutrient parts be stolen away from her, and so she'd gorged herself on them right away. When her stomach had finally reached its filling point, however, she'd sat back on her haunches and allowed for her tongue to dart out and lick over her maw. Still, though, she hadn't answered right away. Her gaze had instead trailed off in Rana's direction, a silent snarl overtaking her features as her lips were pulled back. Though wordless, her message was clear: you will receive nothing. Thankfully, she hadn't needed to send the same threat towards Denali, for he'd left without so much as a single word—just like a good boy.

The Gorgon's gaze eventually lingered upon Zephyr, observing him for a moment before allowing his earlier query to rise up within her mind. "They're fine," she'd answered. "Bothersome little brats, but they're growing quick enough." Well, she thought so anyways. Never before had Sen been around children so young, and so she didn't actually have any examples to base their growth off of. No matter, she was sure that they were fine. They were her children, after all, so surely there couldn't be anything wrong with them. Thereafter, she'd looked to Sadie, rolling a shoulder back in the process. "Better after finding this body," was her honest response. "I needed this." As did everyone, she was sure.

Sen snapped at the two surrounding her as they ate, but he didn't bother to take any of it to heart. In such trying times, things were necisary. The ebony male kept to his own chunk without flinching, and ripped a few pieces off to place at his paws. Rana, though she'd shown up soon enough and showed respect, would not be allowed to come close. He was intent on giving her part of his own share even if he had to vomit it up like a mother, and nobody would tell him otherwise. After all, he'd gotten here in time for a share, and even though the brute needed far more than what was here overall to fill him,  this little portion would keep him alive. Sen, after she was done, finally answered him, and a grin lit up his face.
"I might not be able to give them milk but I can keep them safe and warm if you ever want a break."
Hopefully, by NOW, Sen realized he was loyal and dedicated, even if he did have dreams to run his own pack. Her attention was directed to Sadie then, who Zephyr gave a nod to, and he gathered the chunks in his mouth before making his leave. There was nothing left to keep him here, and he made way towards Rana. Motioning for her to follow, he didn't give her the scraps until they were back on Seadog territory. Even there he didn't stay, however, parting with a lick to her shoulder.

Slight pp of Rana, but Zephyrs last post <3
