Forward to Halloween night. :)

Peregrine snorted awake, breath tight in his chest. He held very still as the images of his dream—wherein a peregrine falcon had been plucking out his blind eye—faded into the ether. Swallowing, the Alpha male sat up and blinked the sleep from his eyes. He was stiff and his head throbbed dully, though he knew he could work out these kinks with a morning jaunt. With a muffled groan, the black wolf rose onto all fours and stretched his legs, his breath curling in a fine mist from the tip of his peppered muzzle.

As soon as he was limbered a bit, he ducked down to nip the tip of the sleeping @Fox's ear. He smiled at her dopey face, then buried his nose briefly in her ruff. His mate smelled positively delightful, like a blend of the perfect autumn spices. Peregrine lingered there, breathing her in for several minutes, then finally pulled himself away. He would start with an early patrol, then probably get some hunting done. Maybe he would swing by Bramblepoint to see if any handsome strangers were lurking there. He was feeling inexplicably randy this morning...

It was past nightfall by the time the Redhawk patriarch returned to the caldera. He hadn't gotten any tail but he had felled a wild pig. He towed the carcass toward the borders, stashing it in the nearest cache. A scent then caught Peregrine's attention. He tipped his muzzle into the breeze and inhaled deeply, dusky jade eyes widening. His gut clenched. Without really thinking about what he was doing, he broke into a gallop, ignoring the faint pounding of his head as the telltale scent flooded his senses.

He arrived at the rendezvous site, hackles prickling. He would not allow any male, their sons included, near Fox during her heat. Tail lashing, he stalked through the clearing, searching for her in the darkness. There was a bell ringing in the back of his aching head, reminding him of his bad genes and his vow not to bring any more life into this world. It was loud enough to bring him to a stop, black toes digging into the cold earth, a growl rising in his throat.

Fox had groaned and rolled over when Peregrine had nipped her ear, but she hadn't woken up. If he had known she had rolled around in caribou dung last night, would he still think that she smelled like "a blend of the perfect autumn spices"? It didn't matter, but it was a funny thing to incorporate into this post. (Oh hey, fourth wall. I haven't forgotten about you!) When Fox finally did rouse from her sleep, that all-too-familiar feeling slammed into her like a ton of bricks. Immediately, she went stomping around the rendezvous site in search of Peregrine.

He was nowhere to be found.

After what seemed like days of agonizing and snarling at anybody who came anywhere close to her an unable to make a single solitary sentence, she caught a glimpse of his scent. Like a bitch in heat--oh wait, she was a bitch in heat--she scrambled toward him as quickly as her legs would take her. "There you are," she said, her own growl joining his. This wasn't their first tango, or even their second. Her body was ready.

She materialized like a fiery wraith out of the darkness. Peregrine didn't know that tonight was All Hallows' Eve or he might have found her appearance slightly creepy. The only thing he found it was sexy. He swallowed thickly as her gray eyes bored into him and her scent washed over him again. His own eyes closed as he felt his resolve weakening, crumbling and blowing away like so much dust and ash. Although there was still an alarm bell ringing somewhere in his head, Peregrine was suddenly glad he'd never brought it up at all. He wasn't going to do it now, either. He was a slave to his instincts and the only thing he was going to do was his wife.

"Here I am," he agreed in a low, sultry voice, stalking toward Fox like a panther. The Alpha knew what she liked in this situation, so he didn't say another word to her. He just lunged at her, gently grasping her scruff in his teeth and pushing his weight against her, forcing her to crouch. Even as she sank underneath him, Peregrine swung into position, his big black body cloaking hers.

But instead of just taking her like a madman, he released his grip on her fur and crooned in her ear, "Tell me what you want." He snaked out his tongue to kiss the velvety red lobe, before he grunted and stuck it seductively inside. "Better yet, show me."

If there was one thing that could be said about the duo, it was that they knew each other well. They had been inseparable for years now, and nothing stood in their way. They had lost loved ones, fought off baddies, and dealt with more shit in their lives than most did in five lifetimes. Even when they fought each other, they always managed to resolve things. Never mind that "resolving" was usually Peregrine succumbing to whatever demands Fox had. Perhaps that was why the role was reversed when they were in this particular situation. This was the one time that Peregrine could take whatever he wanted from her, and Fox would gladly succumb to his every demand.

His breath tickled her ear, and when his tongue slithered its way there, too, she moaned softly. Her hind end wiggled against his crotch, and her tail moved to the side. She had been waiting all goddamn day for this, and yet the anticipation was half the fun. Her hips rocked against his own, and she let him make the next move.

Fox moved beneath him, tucking her tail to the side and pressing backward into him. Peregrine responded by clasping his forelegs around her middle, planting his hind feet and bringing their bodies flush. But he didn't rock forward, even though his instincts screamed at him to do so. He shifted ever so slightly to adjust the angle and then went very still. His mate continued to squirm in his grip, until eventually she hit her target and they united.

A gasp tumbled from the Alpha's lips. "Like that," he murmured. "Just like that." It took a lot of self-control to keep his own hips still but every single one of Fox's movements caused white hot pleasure to spark deep in his core, rapidly building into a pleasurable conflagration. He could already feel his spine tingling and knew round one would be over in mere minutes. But that was okay, there were many more to follow.

She had meant to let him make the next move, but he had other plans in mind. When she found her mark, she released any modicum of control and allowed her body and instinct to take the reins. Her brain was on holiday for a little while. Because she was so comfortable with Peregrine in every way imaginable, she made no effort to hold back. She had waited all damn day for this, and she would enjoy every moment of it.

When he mumbled in her ear, she continued the pace she had set for them, already feeling him tighten his grip around her with his forelegs. Her own front legs quivered under his weight, but she did not falter. If there was one thing she had learned, it was how to balance his weight on top of her. Fox could feel her own zenith on the horizon, and she would not hesitate to bask in its glow when it arrived. She moaned softly, allowing her own movements to pleasure the both of them.

She rocked against him and Peregrine's head dropped, face pressing into the space between her shoulder blades. He mumbled something that sounded a bit like fuck me into her soft auburn fur, though it was quickly swallowed by a growl. His whole body suddenly felt like it was on fire. Both his upstairs and downstairs brains were hot and tingly. A guttural groan wrenched loose from his chest at the last second and he jerked forward despite himself, clamping their hips together and holding onto Fox tightly as he rode out his pleasure.

"Love you," he murmured afterward, refusing to let go even though he felt boneless and sort of wanted to crumple into a heap on the ground. Peregrine kept himself steady, forelegs still wrapped tenderly around his mate's midsection as he nibbled the back of her neck affectionately. "'m not letting you go," he informed her, tightening his hold in case she tried to wriggle free. "You're just gonna have to walk around with me stuck in your bajingo for the rest of forever," he teased.

In the moment he growled in her ear, Fox lost all sense of control and felt her entire body writhe with pleasure. It was always so very different when she was like this, and she always looked forward to the baby-making aspect of their love-making. Her legs wobbled, but they did not fall down (just like a good Weeble). She was panting by the end of it, her chest heaving and her tongue lolling, but a smile had replaced the look of lust and determination.

"Love you, too, beau," she responded breathlessly, even as he proclaimed he would never let her "bajingo" go. "Them babies have got to come out somehow," she teased, thinking that would not be the best way to come into the world. Imagine it: you finally think you're ready to leave the womb and... prank's on you: there's a penis blocking your way!

"Oh, yeah," he murmured, sleepy and sated, "I don't wanna cock block the little guys." Peregrine realized what he'd just said and made an eurghle! sort of noise. He arched his hips away from her very slowly, testing the tug, and moved away just far enough to put all four feet on the ground and give his body a healthy shake. His ears pinned backward somewhat when the movement made his brain feel like it rattled a bit in his skull, a dull ache flaring up behind his blind eye before dying back down again.

He forgot all about the momentary pain as Fox's cloying scent filled his nose again. The Alpha male inhaled deeply, as if his mate was a fine wine and he was sampling the most pleasurable of bouquets. That wasn't really far from the truth. Her aroma made his mouth water like a fat kid who'd wandered into the mall entrance closest to the Cinnabon store.

The virile Redhawk slunk closer to Fox again, pressing his left flank against her right, preening at her neck and face. Although his hormones were raging, he had the presence of mind to consider what they'd—what he'd—just done. He felt a momentary flash of panic at letting his body overrule his logic. But what was done was done. The baby gravy had been inserted into the turkey. There was no looking back now.

"You wanna bang again?" he whispered in her ear, angling for seductive but sounding like the giant dork he truly was.

If there was any panic in his voice or his movements, Fox overlooked it. She was too filled with joy (and baby gravy) to notice anything like that. They were going to have another batch of kiddos, and even though they'd lost so many, that wasn't what Fox was thinking about. She was thinking about how tiny those adorable fluff balls would be. How their little squeaks sounded when they couldn't even hear themselves. She was already imagining how Whip and Gannet would react to their new siblings, and how Finley's kids would, too. Maybe it would give Whip another thing to focus on, rather than moping about and mangling his legs.

"You wanna bang again?" interrupted her thoughts, though she was anything but displeased. "Only if we go niiiiice and slow this time around," she bartered with a smirk. The first time was always a quick, wild frenzy, but after the initial, carnal rush, she enjoyed taking their time. They had a whole week to bone to their hearts' content, and she planned on doing just that. Fox was gearing herself up for the next round, and licked the side of Peregrine's face. "You're the mother-fuckin' best, Peregrine." And he sure was fuckin' a mother.

Fox groaned as he took her suggestion to a whole new level, but there was a smile even as she rolled her eyes. The more kids he had, the more real his dad jokes became. He slithered (yes slithered like a snail) on top of her, and she couldn't help but giggle as he spoke astoundingly slow. "Well, we already fucked like rabbits, so why not fuck like tortoises, too?" she asked (hypothetically, of course). Fox was down to go to Pound Town, no matter how painfully slow they might get there.

She let her hips rock against his yet again, though she was able to go at the speed of a snail this time. How long, she wondered, would they be able to keep up this ridiculously slow pace before the both of them couldn't restrain themselves any further?

Her question gave him pause. Peregrine stilled, pondering it. "How do tortoises fuck? Doesn't the shell get in the way? Like, seriously, how the fuck does that work?" He made some thoughtful noises even as he began to pick up the pace, forgetting entirely to take things slooooow. In fact, it wasn't long before he was practically turning himself inside out with his enthusiasm and blowing his top.

This time, he did sink to the ground, dragging Fox down alongside him. It took a lot of effort, grunting and swearing but he eventually managed to finagle her down beside him, his foreleg slung over her petite body in a loose embrace. He felt very happy and relaxed. All thoughts of his bad genes had flown out the window, at least for now. He'd have the next sixty-three days (give or take) to fret about all of that.

Right now, he just... basked. "I love you," Peregrine said again. Because he did. And he never got tired of saying it.

That wasn't slow at all, but Fox wasn't about to complain about the rapidly increasing boinking she was getting from Peregrine. In fact, it only proved to spur her into action yet again, her body moving in tandem with his own until they both went riding that sweet, sweet wave of release together.

He managed to coerce her to the ground, even though there were a few times she thought he was going to dismantle her from the inside out, and she let out a happy sigh once they were comfortable. "I love you, too," Fox replied, lingering on that sentiment in silence. While she certainly felt rather strong feelings for Peregrine, and had for quite some time, she was never quite sure if "love" was the right word for it.

Fox adored her mate, respected him (for the most part), and was almost always happy in his presence, but the word "love" had never quite seemed right. She'd never spoken these things, of course, fearing that he might leave her for somebody who might actually love him, but she often pondered if she wasn't hurting him more by hiding that inkling of a doubt from him for all these years.

He didn't for a second doubt Fox's words. He smiled at them, his heart feeling full. Gently, he eased away from her when the time came, only to curl around her like some sort of over-sized scarf. Peregrine propped his head on top of hers and shivered his body deliberately. It was a cold October night—in fact, it might actually be November at this hour—but he was nice and toasty beside his fiery partner in crime.

Peregrine let his eyes close for a few minutes, exhaling. When he opened them again, he startled. "Hol—!" he yelled, jumping to his feet and letting Fox slouch unceremoniously to the ground. "Did you see that?" he said loudly, squinting through the darkness, every bladed black fur on his body standing on end.

Fox had been somewhere between dreamworld and reality when Peregrine shouted, jumped to his feet, and left her on the cold, hard ground. "See what?" Fox demanded, quickly going from sweet and content to angry and annoyed. She blamed it on the hormones, of course, but it was anything but. With the tension in the air, Fox peered around with her one and a half eyes, wondering what on earth he had seen (if anything).

"You sure you aren't imagining things?" she asked. He was getting up there in age. Maybe he'd started to lose it completely. Hopefully that wouldn't affect his sperm count... or the quality of their children. She really didn't want the knock-off store branded Firebirds.

Whatever he had seen, he didn't see it now. The air was dark and quiet around them. Peregrine shivered as a chill crept up his spine. It had nothing to do with the temperature. He experienced a momentary feeling of utter wrongness and shuddered again. But it passed, just like that, and he slowly turned to face Fox again.

Upon realizing he had dumped her on the ground, he looked chagrined. He rushed to her side, slinging his belly to the ground and nuzzling against her. "Sorry, I thought I saw—I'm not really sure what." He shrugged. The eerie feeling was gone. "Just my dead eye playing tricks on me, I think."

He settled back on the ground, only to jump slightly when a loud noise ripped through the air. The Alpha laughed at himself when he realized it was his own damn stomach. "Guess I worked up an appetite with all that boning," he quipped. "Hey, I brought a pig back earlier. What do you say we go eat some pork, then pork s'more?" He waggled his eyebrows at her.

She accepted the explanation without resistance, having known all too well what dead (or at least half-dead) eyes could do to one's vision. She'd thought she'd seen her fair share of things since that damn bug had lodged itself in her eye socket. Peregrine's stomach was now on the prowl, though, and Fox nodded in agreement when he offered to get some pork before resuming their porking.

"Mmmmm, yes please," she replied, pushing herself onto her feet and pausing to let him lead the way. That was, assuming that he knew where he was going and he could get them there. "You know how bad I am at feeding myself. It's a good thing nobody has ever relied on me to feed them." Peregrine had always been the meat-winner... although sometimes Fox felt like she was the real meat-winner, with all the meat he gave her. Get it? It's a penis joke!

She was on-board. Peregrine clambered back to his feet, then waited for Fox to follow suit before setting off toward the borders. As the Alpha pair glided through the night, he scanned their surroundings. Nobody else seemed to be out and about at this hour. The night was very quiet. Nothing else caught his eye as they headed downhill and eventually arrived at the stockpile where he'd left the pig's carcass earlier.

"Fuck!" he cried when he saw that someone else had already looted the cache. Most of the pig was gone. Peregrine sniffed the ground, trying to identify the pig who'd eaten the pig. He didn't find any of their pack mates' scents. What he did smell made him growl ferociously, head lifting as he glared across the borders. His tail stiffened behind him and he bared his teeth.

"Ferret," he hissed under his breath, ears practically disappearing against his head as he snarled into the darkness. Their disowned son's presence at the borders—stealing their food—was not only a mood killer, it served as a stark reminder of why Peregrine and Fox shouldn't even be doing this. He was a bad, bad egg. What if they made more of them?

The Alpha turned toward his mate, knowing it was too late to un-ring that bell and realizing the only real solution was to kill her.

It seemed somebody—but not just anybody—had gotten to their food before they had. Fox also caught the scent of their banished son (she hadn't disowned him, anyway), and a growl gurgled in the back of her throat. Ferret was a good-for-nothin' piece of garbage, and now she had half a mind to track him down and rip one of his ears off to teach him a lesson. But his scent didn't seem recent enough for them to have any chance of catching him, and besides... they had more important matters to attend to.

She returned her gaze to Peregrine, but his expression seemed... off. Like he wasn't quite there. "Don't worry about him, Perry," she said, attempting to talk him down and unaware that his murderous gaze was meant for her rather than Ferret. "He'll get what's coming to him." She hardly believed that, but it was her feeble attempt at a lie to get him to defocus on Ferret and refocus on her.

But of course that was beyond absurd. Peregrine laughed quietly at the stupidity of the errant thought, though the expression was short-lived as he kept glaring out into the night. It really pissed him off that Ferret kept coming back like a bad case of herpes. Why didn't he just fuck off to somewhere, anywhere else? The Alpha knew it was most likely Ferret was acting out of desperation, though he was more inclined to believe that shithead was just being a defiant pissant.

Fox's words softened him somewhat. "There's still enough for the two of us," he said in a slightly grumbly voice, lowering his snout to sniff at the remains. His mouth watered. What was better: the scent of his mate in heat or the scent of ripe pig entrails? Peregrine couldn't possibly decide. But right now, all he wanted to do was stuff his face, so he began to loudly and sloppily bolt down chunk after chunk of fatty flesh.

Peregrine seemed to snap out of it. Whether it was because of her words or his own realization, she did not know... but she also didn't care. He tore into the pork, and Fox began to do the same alongside him, growling occasionally when she thought he was getting too close. Her face was soon covered in pig meat, the sloppy mess dripping from her muzzle and spread all over her two front legs. She looked a right mess in the moonlight, scarfing down as much of the meat as she could handle.

Once she felt her belly was full of food, she nipped at Peregrine's rump. "Wanna play a game of chase the bajinga?" she asked, not realizing her misspoken word. Without waiting for him to reply, Fox sped off into the night, lurching herself over a log here, darting around a tree there, and generally going as fast as she could without eating a facefull of dirt in the process.

By the time he backed off from the proverbial dinner table (or was it more of a midnight snack table? :hmmm:), Peregrine felt a little bit like he might explode. This didn't bode well, considering the next activity on their itinerary. His head cocked in response to the weird sloshing noise coming from his own belly before an abrupt and seriously dank burp burst from his mouth. Ah, that felt a bit better.

The next thing he knew, Fox was taking off into the darkness. "It's a bajingooo!" his voice crowed after her before the man himself lurched in her direction, the contents of his stomach still audibly slopping as he gave chase. It was really fucking distracting, both the noise coming from his own insides and the entire sensation of it. Was this what it was like being pregnant?

That silly thought fell right out of his head when Peregrine struck something solid but soft. He glanced down and saw a gray and white blur before his legs tangled and he went stumbling into the dirt. He landed with a loud oof! noise and threw up a little on impact, a weird bacon-flavored slurry dribbling out of his mouth. By the time he collected himself, shook his suddenly pounding noggin and looked behind himself, he saw... nothing.

"The fuck just happened?!" he yelled into the night.

Fox heard a "bajingoooooo!" followed by a crash somewhere behind her and a little to her left. Assuming (correctly) that Perry's klutzy ass had tripped over something, she giggle-snorted at the thought. "The fuck just happened?!" was the next thing she heard, which only caused her to snort louder. Had she been human, she would have been slapping both her knees with pure joy.

She pranced over to him, choking back a thousand more gigglefits before she managed to speak. "You okay, banjinga-chaser?" she asked, unable to hold back another couple of giggle-snorts. "Too injured to bone?" If history was planning on repeating itself, Peregrine would be on top of her in two seconds flat.

Fox appeared beside him, apparently greatly amused by his misfortune, and Peregrine bellowed, "It's BAJINGO! With a GO!" He glared at her, then cracked a smile about three seconds later. "No way! I'll always be up for boning, even when I'm old and tired and dead." As he spoke, he climbed back to his feet, giving himself a little shake as if to smooth his petticoat.

True to his word, the Alpha sprang at his mate. "Head down, ass up," he barked at her, then got into position. There was very little preamble otherwise as he initiated and nearly as rapidly completed round three. A great sigh escaped him and he hung onto her upright hips for a few moments before once more easing away.

Should Fox turn around to look at him, she would see that during their third tryst, Peregrine's pupils had blown to freaky deaky weeaboo anime eyes proportions.
