The growing scent of old blood on the air told him he was close.

Between his teeth was a small scrap of meat scavenged from a rabbit he'd caught for the group earlier that day. He'd heard about what happened to the poor girl from Rannoch who, unfortunately, didn't have much to say. She'd been found, mangled, by some unseen assailant. Rose, thankfully, had rudimentary knowledge of healing and did her best given the circumstances. But Rian was more concerned about who was behind the attack, and if Rannoch's bleeding heart might end up costing them more than just the burden of an injured wolf.

Still, he wasn't a heartless creature, and he did worry when she didn't join their company, which led him to the task he was currently undertaking. He followed the winding path of the stream until her listless gray form came into view. Rian paused on the outskirts of her immediate surroundings and observed—the sight grisly wounds caused his stomach to twist, and his throat to swell. He was torn between wanting to chase her off and rid them of the uncertainty, or offering his support.

Rian frowned, but shored up his anxieties and walked closer until he was well out of reach, but within speaking range. The stream bubbled and gurgled beside him, but he merely flicked an ear to acknowledge it. He set the scrap at his feet and slowly waved his tail which hung level with his back. "You should eat," He said softly. "I brought you this."
As ruthless as it all may seem the wild cares not for the weaker beings.
