Her gaze narrowed as the coyote lifted its muzzle to speak in the wolf's ear, but Lily said nothing, waiting for the other to speak first. There came a question--you are friendly?--and she nodded in answer, continuing to smile as she said, "Yes, of course. My name is Lily."

She noticed the woman's eyes didn't meet her own, instead landing somewhere in the middle of her chest, and she tilted her head in curiosity, pondering what this could mean and fending off the barrage of questions in her ever-racing mind. Who was she? Why did she run with a coyote? And where was she headed?

"Are you traveling, or do you live nearby?" Lily asked politely. She hadn't caught scent of any packs on their journey since Easthollow, and a valley close to it; the Taiga had been quite desolate, which comforted her, knowing they'd be the only ones here in the north. She must be traveling, then, unless she lived alone. Well, she and her--Lily grimaced in silent distaste once more--friend.
