All Welcome
@Smokestep @Rosalyn @Engel anyone else too for hunting. A semi beached small whale. Fun right?

She'd taken a day to rest before heading toward the shore again. She walked slowly through the waves, her paws getting wet but she didn't quite mind. It was warm today again, much warmer than the day before. Ahead of her she spotted something large and grey floating and thrashing in the shallow end of the waves, tossing water hard enough to send it splattering across her face causing her to flinch back slightly. She crept in closer and circled it with wide distance, never having seen something like this before. It was the size of eight wolves if not more than that and would probably hold more than enough meat to last for days.

Unsure what to do about this she lifted her muzzle and called for Smokestep and Rosalyn, throwing one in for Engel thinking he might wanna see what sge had found.

a howl cut through the ragged wind and sandpiper turned to face the gale, her expression squinting. it had come from the beach -- without pause she slipped into a lope that carried her efficiently through the sand and towards the source of the call.

as she rounded the curve of jagged rocks and bashed gneiss, the reason for the call was clear. ahead, some thing -- large and ponderous -- writhed on the beach. sandpiper cast awinita an unsure gaze but paused by a blackened slab -- in an athletic leap she clambered up the top of it and peered down at the thrashing porpoise. she knew better than to test her luck against it, and simply watched it with a somber and knowing silence. either the tide would come in and save it, or it would tire itself out before the rise of water offered it salvation.

She catches Sandpiper’s scent before the howl is made, causing her to stagger a few steps. It isn’t necessarily for her but there’s something that holds her curiosity—and besides, it seems Sandpiper’s scent is headed in that direction—and so she doesn’t stand there for long. She comes around the jagged rocks just as she’s leaping up higher. Sloppily, Nox heads into the water to avoid climbing the higher rocks, stumbling over the wet slabs up from the ground but eventually she’s on the other side with a female she doesn’t recognize. Nox glances back to the other female, but then toward their prize, watching with drool pooling in her mouth.

archiving since awinita is RIP dead

their dinner meal was not to be; the tide was quick to rise, and the stranded whale snaked in the sand with thundering flaps of its appendages until the water at last rose around it and sucked all hope of a meal out into sea.

sandpiper watched impassively, having seen the tempestuous nature of the ocean before. without a word she turned and left the two packmates, searching for an easier meal elsewhere.
