Hold on to me, never let me go. - Luli - August 02, 2020 It wasn't fair. Uprooted so suddenly from her home to be trailed through foreign territory beyond the water, Luli struggled to adjust to a new environment. The weather was about to change, apparently, but how was anyone to know? No rain had come, not even any dark cloud or distant thunder. She followed carefully and hesitantly with a tucked tail, but did not wish to question her mother's decision. Far away from the comfort of the land she'd been born to and surrounded by new faces, the littlest princess felt very afraid. Luli, assuming she'd been left alone by her bolder siblings, dared to venture from the new resting place their mother had chosen for them. @Daiyu was likely nearby and the koi's bright eyes looked for her as she lingered at the threshold of the den, but could see no sign of the dark puppy-sitter. RE: Hold on to me, never let me go. - Liliana - August 02, 2020 there were new people here: some of them young, some of them old — all of them unfamiliar. liliana didn’t care to meet any of them, but wanted to leave the den, if only for some fresh air. neither @Asmoses nor @Miriam were warned of her sudden absence; the former had proven himself not of light, and the latter was simply too present in the girl’s life. she needed space away from them both, even if that meant getting into some trouble. in the distance, she could a spotted form poking from the entrance of a once vacant den. was this one of the new members? liliana slowed her steps and tucked her tail, not wanting to catch any unnecessary attention. RE: Hold on to me, never let me go. - Luli - August 11, 2020 Luli emitted a soft, single whimper. She looked around the immediate area, felt panic rise within her that she could not at once find her most trusted puppysitter. She tilted her muzzle upward and sniffed the air, eager for some small comfort in any suggestion that Daiyu hadn't abandoned her entirely. Probably off making sure @Haoming was keeping out of trouble, the koi tried to assure herself. Still, her little tail remained tucked as she braved a step beyond the den's entrance, eyes wide and always alert for danger. There was no sign, however, but she did catch sight of another cub. Luli's mottled ears pricked in surprise to find a pair of unfamiliar eyes on her, then fell back against her rosy nape as she lowered herself submissively. She held her breath and willed the stranger away, hind limbs shaking fearfully. RE: Hold on to me, never let me go. - Liliana - August 11, 2020 they were both anxious, maybe frightened — what had she done? embarrassment grew and blossomed inside of her, warming her skin until it burned. she bit at the inside of her cheek, then decided to take a step backward and settle (awkwardly) on her hind limbs. my name is lili, she said, who are you? RE: Hold on to me, never let me go. - Luli - August 14, 2020 The other girl, clearly unsure but not nearly as much as the koi herself, took a little step back. This, obviously, was a good sign. Luli had never been particularly confident and now, so far from her home and surrounded by unfamiliar faces, she could not shake her crippling anxiety. She was made curious, however, by the small voice that shared a name with her: Lili. Lili? The tiny seadragon blinked, surprised at the familiarity of it, and did not at once respond with words even after the invitation to offer her own was extended. "I am Luli," she answered at last - after several lengthy, awkward moments. The common words sounded clunky to her, this child who favoured her mother's foreign tongue, but she knew enough of the common language to piece together an appropriate response. RE: Hold on to me, never let me go. - Liliana - August 15, 2020 luli and lili. their names complimented each other, if not perfectly matched. the young neverwinter couldn’t help but smile, allowing the smallest giggle to escape through closed lips. this was one of the foreign wolves, one of the ones that spoke the other language. liliana thought that it was strange, then, the resemblance luli held to aibreann’s baby, nuala. i like your spots, liliana complimented, keeping her voice low, you’re pretty. RE: Hold on to me, never let me go. - Luli - August 25, 2020 "I like your spots," came the very unexpected compliment from her newest acquaintance, one that her ears lifted atop her rosy crown. She blinked her blue-green eyes and remained quiet as she considered the words, then shifted her weight to study her own pelage. Soft, peachy hues. The russet blended into the alabaster of her hindquarters and her tail, still scruffy with baby furs, was as pallid as her backside. She could not see the intricacy of her body's own patterning, but took note of a number of darker markings that littered here and there - likely the spots that Lili referred to. Lies! The koi looked away from herself, suddenly ashamed of these blemishes that had drawn others' attention, no matter how "pretty" they suggested she might be. Her mother and siblings didn't share her colours, her irregular patches, and thus she was different. She didn't want to be different. Sadness crept it's way into her bones but, ever polite, Luli sent her new companion a watery little smile. Her eyes were glassy with the threat of tears, but none came. "Thank you," she said meekly, eager then to escape this social awkwardness, "you... you are, too." She gathered herself then, and moved off to be alone with the excuse that her mother was expacting her someplace. |
