The sounds raged on, but slowly, the young wolf grew deaf to them. Her heartbeat slowed, as did her harried breaths, and very soon, one mightn't've known there was anything in the rocks at all - her family, of course, would have been able to track the stink of Alya and Fear into the narrow opening, but a creature with a lesser nose would easily pass them by.

Eventually, even Alya herself forgot that she was in the boulders. The pup had entered her own realm.
