"You're welcome," Raven answered automatically, the other wolf's sudden change in pitch only registering with her a few seconds later. "Do you mind if I ask what happened?" she wondered aloud. "You don't have to tell me," she was quick to add, just in case Charlotte didn't want to talk about it.

As soon as she saw the shadow pass behind the woman's eyes, the medic shook her head. "Never mind," she said with a kind smile. "You're all set," she declared in the next breath, "and I have to get back to the pups. But please feel free to call for me if you need anything. I'll see you later, Charlotte." With a parting nudge, the Gamma departed toward the den.
