But instead of crying all over the place, the Bandrona made a conscientious effort to stiffen her lip. Face still smeared with frozen tears, she sat up a little straighter. Ignoring the wobbling at the corners of her mouth, she said, "I'm sorry, Thur. I've been a mess lately. I've let my emotions get out of control." She sniffed, then drew in a long, shaky breath. "Have I ruined everything?" Wildfire needed to know, even if she feared the answer. She needed to know if she could pick up these pieces and put them back together again or if the situation was as hopeless as it currently felt.
