Mallaidh does not wait when the pressure is released. The moment the monster is off her, she flings herself forward. She does not wait to see if the other still pursue, despite the prevention of her being eaten, because all she wants to do is get home. In addition, she doesn’t exactly know where she’s going and she runs in what—at the time—seems to be the proper path.
