Blacktail Deer Plateau we are in a state of flux

You could’ve, she looks down, you still can. It goes against everything she’s told herself. Can she go back? Or is Blixen just saying it? If they knew who she actually is, they probably wouldn’t take her. What is a liar in their face? No one had sent her but she’d hidden long enough to know better. Mallaidh looks to the side; anywhere but Blixen. 

She opens her mouth to say something but her teeth snap together when Blixen opens her mouth, but does not say what she means. She waits a few seconds to allow her to finish but the silence is brutal. “What?” she asks, holding her breath, certain she doesn’t want the other half of the question but unable to help herself.
