Charon complimented her on the story and Wildfire laughed under her breath, sure that he was humoring her. Her tail waved. The next moment, he was excusing himself. Although slightly taken by surprise, she nodded and smiled. Perhaps something about her silly story had reminded him of something he needed to do. Or, more likely, she had bored him so badly he immediately needed to find somewhere to fall asleep.

Tittering inwardly at that thought, she said a quiet, "I had a nice time too. Bye, Charon," and then began going her separate way. She picked her way back down the rockery, then meandered back toward the lake. She slumped down beside it once more, albeit on the other shore, and stared at where the black water reflected the stars, including Calamity and Raven's Arrow.
