She bolted after the squirrel, which, in turn, was making a mad dash for the standing stones. She'd been very careful in inching it away from the trees, yet somehow had neglected to include the massive stones in her calculations. It reached the base of one of the goliaths, and she lurched forward and kicked off the ground in a desperate lunge. Her fangs grated against the frigid stone painfully, and she yipped as her chin made contact with unyielding mass. She backpedaled, gaze narrowed in sudden pain, and winced at the odd taste in her maw.
