Blacktail Deer Plateau we are in a state of flux

The question is clunky and confusion at first, and not really what she expected. Truthfully, she didn’t expect to see her again and this question never surfaced except in the form of regret. If Blixen knew who she really was, would it have stopped her from fleeing? From breaking it off? What does Blixen knowing her now make a difference?

“I don’t know,” she starts, “I don’t really know who I am. I think I have to figure that out first.” Pain pinches behind her eyes and she blinks back the welling of tears, turning her head and shaking them out. Mallaidh inhales a sharp breath and looks back, opening her mouth to say something—you shouldn’t have come here? Don’t say that—but her teeth snap shut and she steels her face. “You know who you are. You have a family and everything I don’t—” she pauses, biting back words she knows will hurt.
