Ready or not

Constantine had to begin considering what he wanted as a trade -- soon, he would be ranked as an adult, and he wanted to contribute to the pack as best he could. It was hard to settle on one he wanted to focus on first, and so by default, the youth found himself prowling the borders, stopping every so often to leave a mark, as he had often seen his parents and Dante do.
 
Loping along, the black-masked wolf paused in his gait, his nose catching the unfamiliar scent of a visitor. A howl rang out then -- shaky, at best, but concise with its meaning, and Constantine tipped his own muzzle back, offering his own clipped howl to notify their visitor that someone was coming.

"Hello," he offered cautiously, his tail waving like a proud banner behind him. "You're on the borders of Blacktail Deer Plateau -- what do you seek here?" He tried to select his words carefully -- he was a representative of his pack, after all.
