Weather: 28°F, clear. For @Lyra.

Dune knew of the two other sisters: Lyra and Alya, but he did not know them. Even Hydra was elusive when she was around. None of the Ostrega family seemed particularly... open. Was that the right word? Friendly? Welcoming? They lacked whatever it was that Dune and Gannet shared, he knew that much. Wraen had also possessed it. The quality was not something Dune could pinpoint, but he knew it when he saw it. In some ways, he still felt a stranger to much of the pack as much as he yearned to be part of the whole.

In an effort to do this, he had decided to track down Lyra. He had seen her in passing, and they had exchanged names, but beyond that, he knew little. Was she a hunter? A fighter? Did she like her life here? Did she like Dune's company? What did she think about four of the pack's core members up and leaving them? Had she been friends with them? These questions had broiled in Dune's mind about Lyra (and others in the pack).

He spotted her up ahead, and with a woof, hoped to get her attention.

Unlike Dune, Lyra knew quite a fair bit more about him than he did her. At least, as much as Hydra had told her about him. He was odd, seeming to the girl more like a useful pet more than a fellow pack member, but that was a judgement only made from description alone. Perhaps meeting the boy would give her a better, more favourable outlook. The sting of Terance and the others' abandonment of Moonspear — which is what it felt like to the triplet — was still raw, however, so she was still wary of all save those who shared the Ostrega name.

She had been inspecting some curious plants growing at a base of a tree as Dune came upon her, grabbing the Epsilon's attention with a soft woof. She looked up and over her shoulder, gaze sweeping over his pale form before falling pointedly to the collar at his throat. That strange, alien fashion piece that made the fur at her neck stand on end. "Hey, Dune," she said as politely as she could muster, the tone of her voice betraying her uncertainty about him and his...accessory.

Honestly, he forgot about the gift most of the time. It was ever-present, but he had become accustomed to the weight of it. Heck, he had almost become accustomed to the way others stared at his neck rather than... well, anything else. Perhaps it could be worse. Yes, it could definitely be worse. Instead, the gift had not done anything since he had gotten it. At first, he had been certain that it was some kind of test, but now it seemed like nothing at all. Aside from occasionally being itchy, he ceased to recognize its existence... until somebody else did it for him as Lyra was doing right now.

"Hey," he replied, mimicking the word she had used. His spoken word still wasn't on par with the rest of the pack, but Dune felt he was making progress in that department. Talking to others and even listening to them talk to each other had helped tremendously. Vocabulary was still a rather large gap in his knowledge, but he figured that would only continue to grow and expand as time went on.

Dune realized he didn't actually have a plan on what to do once he got to Lyra. Small talk wasn't exactly one of his strong points, but hunting definitely was, so maybe they could do that. He remembered that he'd come across the thick smell of rabbits earlier that day. "Found rabbits. Hunt with me?" he asked, raising his brow.

Hydra hadn’t specifically said anything about his collar — only that it was weird and she didn’t trust it. It didn’t seem to be doing anything, but Lyra was cautious all the same. She also had yet to make up her mind about the wolf it was attached to, too. While his mimicry of a greeting unnerved her, the boy’s suggestion of hunting rabbits caused her ears to prick, and Lyra forced a small smile. She would be grateful to not engage in conversation with her strange pack mate (whom she had rather harshly deemed dim-witted solely because of his language skills). Hunting would have it’s usefulness as well, what with Amekaze’s upcoming litter. She nodded, giving a quirk of her muzzle for Dune to lead the way.
