All Welcome
shreeeee-!

The pounding of his paws against the dirt. The distant mountain steadily getting closer.

Kassuq was cold, he was dirty, his wounds had become fresh, sensitive scars. But home was looming high above his head, and he had to get there. The owl, ever present, swooped down over his head and up the mountainside. He stumbled over his own feet, nearly going down with how abhorrent his balance was without his tail as a counterweight.

But it didn’t matter, because he was home. He went stumbling over the border, sure as anything that he would be welcomed, and collapsed into a thin boned heap.

Massaraq marked his brother's return, the three brothers all back from their spirit journeys even if less than whole. And he welcomed him with warmth and strong arms, give news of Galana's return too, would step away as others greeted him and not ethe new scars and the new shadow. But he was quiet and subdued as more filtered in and hung to the edges trusting that they would catch up once the commotion had died down.

just a cameo, but Massaraq wouldn't miss Kassuq coming home <3

massaraq had come back.

two sons.

the duck fasted. she prayed. she fed massaraq good gruels and saw that he slept often in the ulaq where he had been born, absorbing the long years of great power that the shelter now held.

she considered moonsong.

she offered more fat to the wind, to the spirits, to the snow.

and on one such day they brought to her the crumpled form of kassuq, who breathed and lived but was studded with horrible wounds and streaked in mud.

"@Nasamiituuq," she spoke, gathering others from the village to bring the new man to her ulaq, to call massaraq and arrluk close.

they were bound in this now.

brothers.

her chants began, and she began to bind his wounds as her soft voice carried and the young girl at her side chewed medicines into a poultice for the sibling of her mother.

three men in her village. three hunters.

Just a cameo <3
More and more, Nasamiituuq remained glued to her grandmother's side. Each day she learned more, dutifully carrying out all that was asked of her. Even in times like these, times of great stress and much change, she found comfort in anaanatsiaq's vast knowledge and serene surety.

One day, she often told herself, she would be just like her.

Nasamiituuq blinked back the threat of tears at the sight of such suffering and devoted herself wholly to the task at hand. She must be calm. Like anaanatsiaq. She focused on the sound of her grandmother's chanting as she chewed, and found some semblance of peace. All would be well again soon.

cameo.

Three brothers had come home, oh but their journies had been hard. With them brought changes of many things. Ajei could feel herself beginning to grow into her own womanhood and it was frightening.

However, as with the other two. When she saw him arrive, Kassuq. She lifted her nose in a howl. Delicate and trilling. Welcoming him home.

Then she would turn back to her own family's Ulaq and give praise that Kukutux's children were returned. And mourn what they may have lost for them. But also hope for only great things for the three sons of the moon and sun. Here on out.
