All Welcome

The night sky is bright with the full moon hanging low, the sky free of crowds and filled with bright stars. It looks like the same sky she’s used to in Trigeda but the moment she sets her reflective gaze away, she’s filled with nothing familiar. She’s always been a roamer but this is the farthest she’s gone from home—or what she used to call home—but she knows she’s made for bigger and better things and it’s up to her legs to carry her all the way. Her petite frame crossed the countryside with relative ease, spending a few days in Sangeda when she reached the satellite pack between her starting point and destination. She filled up on as much information as she can (and gave them what she’s meant to) before departing further south to her ultimate ending point.

Fahren embarked on her journey in great health but now, as she approaches the base of Nova Peak, has a little worse for wear. A few days ago she’d encountered a disgruntle pair of wolves and she’d gotten away, thanks to her speed, but not without a few injuries to carry as a reminder. Her right ankle had taken quite a bite, now swollen and tender to the touch, forcing her gait into a limp that becomes more pronounces the more she walks on it. The night gives her an advantage to go without being seen but this night, her dark coat absorbs the light of the moon and she stands out in a clearing between the woods and mountain.

She forces her to complete the distance and find a shaded overhang from the peak and trees on either side of her, immersing herself into thick foliage for protection. The girl searches the nearby hear for sights and smells that stands out before she finally makes herself comfortable on the ground and using a tree as a little support.

As the sun began to set, the boy was urged from his space near the lake and towards the outskirts of the territory. To travel during the day was something that he was reluctant to do, bothered terribly by the sunlight, and so he’d held off until the world around him was wrapped in the shadow of the dusk. Recently, his mind had been weighed on by a desire to head south and visit Blackfeather, despite the creature that lurked there. For the time being, he forced the thought away, deciding to wait until a later time to make the journey; before leaving, he would have to speak with Kendra, and he wasn’t entirely sure where they stood anymore. Until he could find the time to take the trip, as well as the energy to do so, he settled for making small trips out beyond the coastal pack’s claim. That evening, as the day turned to night, he began the first trek of many, his legs carrying him northeast.

By the time the salt no longer burned his nose and a line of trees could be broken through, night had claimed the world around him. The Moon shone overhead, Her glory supported by the millions of stars that served beneath Her rule, brightening the world in a way that was far better than what the daylight could ever accomplish. Proceeding, he walked without a destination in mind, silently making note of where he was going; he needed to be able to find his way back, as well as offer some sort of information to the wolves of the woods to make up for how long it had been since his last visit. Every now and again he stopped and sniffed the air, testing the area for any signs of packs, but he always came up empty. It seemed as if all he could find were the faint traces of the many visitors that had passed through the territory, all of which he ignored the second he picked up on something more recent.

Stopping where he stood, Alexander tasted the air around him to figure out which direction it was coming from. His discovery: the point of origin seemed to be in the direction he was heading. A glare flickered through his eyes, followed by a sharp shake of his head and the continuation of his movements. The scent was feminine—unable to be perceived as a threat—and so he proceeded without much care or caution. Eventually, he would likely pass by her resting space, but whether or not he might stop to investigate was something that he had yet to decide.

A new scent fills the area, one she does not recognize, and it causes her to tense up. The unfamiliarity of the land does not settle well with the young girl and she hesitates making her presence known. If he hasn’t found her by now, he isn’t likely looking for, but she has tucked herself away enough he may not be able to find her. Fahren’s ears press back against her head and she shifts in her position on the ground to try and see through the brush of the mountainous forest.

She sees a glimpse of white that walks through a ray of moonlight and thickened sea salt fills her nose. With a guard returning to Trigeda with information on her destination, she knows she’s searching for a coastal pack. She’d approached one further north but it is not where she’s meant to be, which dampens her need to talk to him. There’d been no note about how many borders, other than what’s nearby but nothing strikes her out of the ordinary she’s had to look for.

Fahren clears her throat when he is close enough—at least several yards—and she carefully untangles herself until she’s up on all limbs. “Chon yu bilaik?” she asks, the first of her tests to determine if he’s worth the time.

The scent thickened, bothering him more than it likely should have, but he made no effort to correct his mood. Instead, he simply pressed onward and continued towards the land beyond her hiding place. The destination was not to be reached right away, however, for he found himself slowing to a stop as an unfamiliar face revealed itself. For a long moment, he did little more than stare at the female, his legs stiff and his ears shoved forward. His posture, unable to default into a state of relaxation per usual, tensed further when she spoke; the language was foreign, not a single word able to be connected to a proper meaning within his head. Narrowing his gaze, his lips parted as if he might say something—an insult in his father’s mother tongue, most likely—but then closed promptly, disallowing the escape of all sounds, save for a scoff-like noise. Choosing to ignore her, Alexander continued passed the girl, his journey resumed whilst the stranger was left at his back.
