There was little more that they could say about the situation. There was nothing they could do to feel better in the moment, but to block the hole that Dhole had left in their hearts with anger and scorn for the girl. That was all Charon could do, at least — he had loved Dhole, he had never wanted to lose her and now she was gone. And so all he could do was hate her for leaving him, for leaving Flóki, who loved her more than anyone had ever loved anyone else in Charon's eyes. She wasn't worth it — yet the gaping hole, blood pouring from it more painfully than ever before, that she had left behind in each of their hearts hurt so intensely that it was hard to ignore that she had meant so much to him.

In silent acceptance and grief he awaited, moving closer to nose Flóki on the cheek in silent gesture of support. They had lost so many in their lives and had been left behind by so many, even those very dear to them, but they would always have each other.
