Due to the range in Neverwinter's diverse biome, both Rannoch and Cypress had been able to experience an array of different wildlife from a young age. But, given the timeline of his young life and when he had been abducted, Rannoch had only gotten to see a beaver a handful of times; far less than he had seen any other wildlife.

Nodding as she attempted to recall what a beaver was, Rannoch listened as she talked. It seemed as though Liffey had been heading in the right direction to explain the mammal. But, even with her strong start, her answer began to crumble as she advanced. Uncertainty overrode her psyche as she soon realized that she didn't know what he was talking about and as she fell silent, Rannoch stepped in.

"It's kind of like an otter," he clarified, his tone encouraging. "It's fat and got some teeth that are big and stick out of it's mouth," the specifics were lost with age, "and it's got the weirdest tail-- flat and black." Even as he explained it, he realized how strange it sounded, and he smiled. "Trust me; I'm not making this up." Observing her, he then waited, wondering what she made of this seemingly mythical creature.
a crime so old as the sky and bone
he came untied, solid as a stone
all is almost lost and it starts to show
