Rannoch cleared the distance between them and carefully sat at her side. Staying mindful of the bird-of-prey before them, as that was what he assumed she was watching, Rannoch delicately placed the rabbit at his paws and turned his attention to his friend. He was conflicted by her request.  Though he didn't necessarily want to give up Liffey's meal he also did not want to disobey Hydra. Ultimately, his need to appeal to the mountain's leadership overcame his own needs and he rationalized that he could easily pick up another rabbit when he was back on his way to Liffey.

"Sure," he replied in a whisper. He then turned his attention from Hydra and surveyed the scene in an attempt to comprehend better what was going on. When he fell short of any explanation for her needing the rabbit, he asked, "What's going on?"
a crime so old as the sky and bone
he came untied, solid as a stone
all is almost lost and it starts to show
