Rannoch smiled with Terance prompted him to re-visit the story he had told earlier. "Well," he began with a glimmer of amusement in his turquoise eyes, "I was talking about the time I almost got skunked." 

Rannoch turned from his friend and towards the worn path before them and stepped forward to resume their patrol. As they advanced along the snow-covered trail, Rannoch kept the conversation light and paid mind to how Terance acted. Even if he couldn't relate to his friend's struggle, Rannoch wanted to see what he could do to make him feel better. 

The two yearlings continued their work for quite some time and enjoyed each others company well into the day. When they were both satisfied with what they had accomplished, they parted ways for the day. Though Terance seemed to have been in better spirits, Rannoch would remain observant of his friend's mental health.
