Raptor was not impressed (and downright agitated) to hear Roz babble back at the wolf. Mostly because he considered Roz to be one of them and had quickly and unfairly decided that this new chick was not — and how dare Roz fraternize with the enemy or perpetuate this rudeness. Raptor kept that sentiment to himself and all his judgement appeared to be aimed at Dakini. He wanted nothing more than to shut her down and send her off, but he let her flap her lips on and on without a remark and bore her nauseating sarcasm with an impassive face.

There was a rule among pirates. You didn't have to like your crew but you couldn't hurt them and you couldn't run them out just for being annoying or because you didn't like their stupid face. She was crew — somehow, and he wondered who the hell let her in — and another hand on deck just meant another wolf working to gather food and treasures. So he would be tolerant. Sort of. He would try.

She left and Raptor rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Must be slim pickin's fer crew out there," he sniggered. "Aye, well, I'm hungry too. Later, lasses," Raptor called over his shoulder as he headed away, blatantly in the opposite direction that Dakini had went.

rosalyn introduced the mixed to the pair and sandpiper bristled, her cheeks puffed with tufts of fur on end. "i'm the second." she corrected coldly, feeling as if the lack of formal introduction regarding her rank was perhaps a deliberate jab. her expression was sullen as she turned back to dakini, who seemed more chatty than a drunken gull.

like raptor sandpiper did not favor their hidden language, and felt her security wrackled. she said nothing as dakini turned to leave, instead electing to stare at her impassively -- unflinchingly -- with long drawn out blinks. she gave rosalyn one last frigid glance and then turned quickly to pad after raptor. she was eager to close the distance between them and edge rosalyn out.

When Sandpiper corrected, Rosalyn looked at her with an expression of genuine surprise.  She had simply assumed, from the nature of her introductions so far, Raptor note the honor of first mate.  That Sandpiper held it both shocked and, she would admit, bothered her rather deeply, though that she kept to herself.  It hadn't been intended a slight, as she had been told no formal hierarchy yet, but she wasn't prepared for the pronouncement either.

She watched silently as they left, not entirely understanding their irritation with Dakini's learning to communicate, but not particularly bothered by it.  If this put a pall on her relationship in the pack, it was nothing compared to what she would have to do now knowing that Sandpiper was claiming first mate.  Instead of leaving, she stood a while, staring thoughtfully at the sea.
