NPCs are non-player characters used to populate the game world. There are two kinds of NPC at Wolf:
Character NPC: Previously played characters or in-game offspring with no player. These NPCs require an associated account with the NPC title in order to be referenced in-game. They cannot be injured or killed and must always be referenced in a way that respects their established personality and the NPC guidelines in their profile. Character NPCs may be part of a pack.
Background NPC: NPCs without an account. They are primarily used to make scenes more interesting and engaging for your character. These include animal familiars, companions, prey, and competing predators that your character interacts with but are not official characters. Background NPCs may not be part of a pack.
Regardless which type of NPC you are utilizing, an NPC must never be used to advance your character in the game via:
- Participating in combat.
- Influencing the outcome of a scenario.
- Granting information to your character they would not otherwise have.
- Producing offspring with played characters.
- An account must have at least 1 post to be eligible for the NPC rank.
- You must fill out the NPC field in your profile before requesting the NPC rank for your character.
- Characters can occupy the NPC rank for a maximum of 6 months. Once elapsed, they will be automatically removed and are assumed to have left the game setting.
- You may not post while ranked as an NPC. Doing so will result in your NPC rank being removed.
- NPCs are the lowest ranking members of the pack and may not be referenced holding a higher rank.
- NPCs occupy member slots in packs but do not count toward the minimum member requirement to prevent disbanding.
- In the event of a pack disbanding, all associated NPCs are assumed to have left the game setting or can request Loner NPC status.
- If another player asks you to remove NPCs from a scene, you are required to do so.
Pack Character: Request the NPC rank from your Pack Manager(s) by following their pack-specific protocol.
Loner, Pledged, or Wild Fauna: Request the NPC rank in Maintenance prior to your account falling inactive. If your character was an NPC in a disbanded pack, request within 30 days of disbandment and include the name of the pack.
Pack Managers may not title characters as NPCs without a request for NPC status from the account owner. There is one exception: For characters less than 6 months of age, the player of an adult guardian may request NPC status on their behalf provided the character's player has not indicated otherwise. In case of disputes, players always have the final say on the NPC status of their own character.
