Pack Formation
The rise had disappeared behind the mountains at their back.  Redd traveled through them alongside her charge, hunting where she could, but always pressing forwards.  No place suited her.

This was until she found the eagles.

They paid her little attention but something about their presence made the mountain feel less desolate.  If she did not have pack then at least she could appreciate the grace in their own fierce independence.  Perhaps it only heartened her to recognize a familiar fierceness.

This Eagle Mountain would hold her claim.  It would not be hers unless she could defend it, but she lifted a howl all the same, informing and inviting those near to join her if they sought to build something new.

Her voice rang into the foothills.  Redd watched the light spark off of a distant river and allowed peace to steal over her.  If she was meant to lead then she would.  Winter would come either way.

tagging @Ruckus since I know he’d be nearby and likely join in <3 but hoping for a stranger! Anyone who wants to join is welcome though

Ruckus never strayed from Redd's side. The only time they were absent from being her shadow was when she hunted and they were instructed to stay behind. When that happened, Ruckus paced, impatient, anxious, and irritated. When she returned each time, they relaxed, sinewy muscles no longer taught from nose to tail. They noted a shift when Redd saw the eagles.

When Redd howled, Ruckus found their own creaking voice calling up alongside hers. Whatever this was, they would follow Redd to the depths of it—and back out again if need be.
