All Welcome
I know we already have one buuuut... development!!! Whenever you have time <3
Finally she gathered the courage to range beyond the main island. Inviting @Ava Amara with a low croon, Anathema swam the short distance first to one island, then the next, driven by some unnameable force which called to her from that third island. She did not yet know it as the place of their birth.

Yet evidence lingered within the den. Old furs gone stiff with age and abandon, and the bones of many small kills piled in one corner of the den. Anathema saw the story of a mother alone; struggling. No one else had been present for their birth, her brother had said.

Further in she saw the place of true importance: pristine, touched only faintly by dust even after all this time. An altar. Wolf bones laid reverently upon a stone, twined with vines of crumbling dark flowers and pale withered berries. At the center of the altar, a roughhewn rock — split in two.

Each half revealed a variegated interior, dappled shades of grey which shone with silvered flecks throughout. Anathema was reminded distantly of a stormy sky; there was a sense of foreboding haunting that altar, those bones, and most of all the strange stone split in two. Yet she felt drawn to it, stepping toward it with only a single glance back to search for her sister's eyes.

it was hard, this place of truth. ava followed wordless after her sister, seawater still dripping from her pelt.

the bones, the dust, the altar — all examined with a mismatched gaze.

it was the hewn stone that drew anathema towards it. ava hung back, trepidation in her posture as the weight of this dark place settled around her. was it charnel house or crypt or cathedral? she could not tell.
