All Welcome
Their time together was not brief. It was memorable in the way all new things are memorable, and Nazli would never forget it. It was terrifying and exhilarating. It was painful at times, and good, and she knew to expect that — all of it, and none of it. How unprepared she felt by the end!

The moments after when Nazli was tended to and inevitably sent back to her alcove, or back to work, or to sleep or to eat, she would think of it and still be unsure of her feelings. Sokha had said she might feel different, or not at all — and that confused her at the time of the lesson. Experience being what it was, Nazli still lacked an answer.

She found some peace by stepping outside of the situation. Her focus was on work, and soon enough it was as if the time with Ramesses had not happened: she was back to being her usual frantic, focused, energized self as she moved through the halls in attendance to the many things she had let slip.

Medusa often traversed where she shouldn't. The fellahin took pathways she much preferred; out of sight, and in the darkness. She picked her way through a familiar path, hearing the ruckus that meant the palace was alive and awake. Soon the calls to Ra would come (ugh), and she would need to retire.

She picked up her pace. She did not want to be found by any who might summon her to greet Ra. Ra provided Medusa with much discomfort, and she hated to greet him. If that brought a curse of eternal darkness upon the palace, well, all the better for her.

Medusa thought little of others outside of herself, with the exception of Midas and of Gucci.

The girl hurried along, and her path would soon take her to the lavender fellahin.

It was not common for Nazli to associate with the youth of Akashingo. She had been busy lately with her training, her visits with Ramesses, and everything else piling up — and aside from moving Gucci in to his own quarters weeks ago, she had not been privy to the development of them at all. It was not her role; it was more a job for Tavina and the other fellahin.

However, today at least, her path crossed with the pale waif; Nazli did not know their name, and did not know exactly how to address them, only that she was respectful and kept her head down. A shy, Hello, miss... passed from her lips as she side-stepped, hoping to get out of the way in time.

Medusa, she said, stopping in her path in thoughts that the girl herself was trying to converse. Oh, no, she was side-stepping. Medusa made a noise of relief that she was saved from the need to socialize, something she simply was not good at. She just didn't enjoy it.

But since the other girl wasn't looking at her, Medusa stared openly at the lavender girl.

A pang of envy, for the others beauty. A strange and ugly feeling reared its head within her.

Maybe she should make the girl sample a poisonous feast.

The intrusive thought caused her to draw in a deep breath. Where did that come from? And why? Medusa blinked before she too moved to wander the cold, dark corridors to her cold, dark space.

The other wolf was small, pale, and yet still larger than Nazli; she was probably destined to be larger indefinitely, given that Nazli was a half-breed. She didn't get a good look at the girl as her head was down and her eyes averted.

She spoke a name, and Nazli nodded, taking it and reciting it to herself.

If the nebet needs anything, I am here, and the others, the fellahin, would all be ready to drop whatever job they were doing so that Medusa could be made happy. The servant gave a shy smile and lingered in case there was an order coming, but, was ready to go otherwise.

The other speaking felt something like they were tempting fate, to Medusa, who grit her teeth. This Nebet needs for you to leave me alone, she irately thought before she paused shortly. Medusa, all vexation, turned to the well-meaning fellahinYeah, you know what? she started, blinking slow and cat-like, ...follow me, I do need you it looks like.

And then Medusa turned and stalked toward where her things were hidden away, some span of distance from here.

nazli gave a stooped nod, and followed.
she did not see any reason to ignore the request; although the girl had not been all too happy in the beginning, nazli thought she had done something to change her mind. that, or she knew her own place well enough not to question things. the whims of those higher-born were fickle.

the fellahin's only sound was the tapping of clawed feet upon stone, as she kept pace.

Partway there, Medusa said, you know what? Never mind, her gaze cutting in the direction of Nazli. Medusa did not know if Nazli would even care, so subservient she was, but perhaps her point was not made clear enough. Medusa had felt bothered, and so she in turn hoped to rankle the girl similarly.

Whether or not it made any impact, Medusa continued on her way down the dark corridor.

the girl promptly changed her mind. the dismissal came suddenly, and then they were gone - like a ghost, evaporating in to the dark of the hall.

nazli was left feeling unmoored; there were other tasks to complete, of course, but the young woman wondered if she had somehow offended the spectre. she headed on her way readily enough, if a bit dismayed by the sudden shift of medusa's desires.

it was not her place to question her superiors, only to acquiesce.
