set vaguely a week or so after the seal hunt. some assumptions made - let me know if you'd like them changed <3

feel free to close any old threads with him as I probably won't have time to conclude all of them

It is said that to hunt a seal, you must become like one.

@Raiyuk's hunt had marked a shift in something deep inside - a yearning to become stronger. To cut through the water faster than @Chakliux had shown him. To dive to depths in the ocean unimaginable to those who had not lived, had not breathed the ocean air. Your spirit and theirs joined as one; hunter and hunted bound by what lay beneath the waves.

But, he could not do that here.

The life growing within Tulik and Marina shown in the roundness of their bellies was a fond reminder of all he would miss. It was hard to imagine that they would be grown upon his return, harder still when he did not even know the colour of their fur or the lights of their eyes.

And he would miss @Iseul too. Sometime between their journey to the sea ice and his return to the plateau had her scent begun to fade and left in its wake a heavy acceptance that nothing remained the same forever. Perhaps, he had known this all along. The worn badger pelt he placed in her den before bidding farewell to @Rodyn and the others and heading north past the sea ice and to lands beyond.

There would be little landmarks once he reached the snow, but his father had assured the village would call to him. While spring gave way to summer he would learn their tongue, their hunt, and the ways of their people. And when the cold returned, perhaps he too would return: a man of the seal hunters.
